When The LEGO Movie came out, I paid it no attention figuring it was just a kid's movie, (you would think I would have learned my lesson from downplaying Frozen) and it was at least a year before I got bored and gave it a shot. Much to my surprise, I LOVED the movie, and I was particularly enthralled by a certain cowl wearing character from the film; LEGO Batman.By the way, I see what the creators did with him. They parodied all the negative aspects of Batman, cranked it up to 11, and came out with one of the most self-absorbed, narcissistic, pain in the arse characters ever to be invented. But if you are Lego Batman, you are shunned by your fellow Justice Leaguers and your only friend may be someone more obsessive than you are. Check out the brand new TV spots below from The LEGO Batman Movie to see a glimpse into his life.After reading MFR's article earlier, where Ben Affleck is basically trolling all Batman fans, I think I am more excited to see this version of Batman over Affleck's adaptation.
The good news is that we won't have to wait long, as The LEGO Batman Movie will be released in one month as opposed to possibly 2020 for The Batman.The film features a star-studded and interesting cast: Will Arnett will reprise his role as LEGO Batman, Ralph Fiennes voices Alfred (great casting there), Rosario Dawson as Batgirl, Michael Cera as Robin, Billy Dee Williams as Two-Face, and then there's The Joker. Zach Galifianakis will be playing Batman's arch-nemesis, and this may be the only thing I am not fully on board with, and I will admit, I am biased. Anytime I see an animated Joker not voiced by Mark Hamill, I always sigh and have already written the character off. After watching the TV spots, I once again felt the same way, as The Joker just sounded like a normal guy to me. Maybe someday I will let that go, but I am not quite yet ready to.LEGO Batman vs. Batfleck. Galifianakis vs. Hamill Joker.
