The Lego Ninjago Movie is an upcoming 2017 Danish-American 3D computer-animated action-comedy martial arts film that is being directed by Charlie Bean and written by Dan and Kevin Hageman, Hilary Winson, Bob Logan and Paul Fisher. Based on the Lego Ninjago toy line, the film is the second spin-off installment from the 2014 film The Lego Movie, following The Lego Batman Movie, which was released earlier in 2017.

The film will star the voices of Dave Franco, Michael Peña, Kumail Nanjiani, Zach Woods, Fred Armisen, Abbi Jacobson, Olivia Munn, Justin Theroux, and Jackie Chan. The film is scheduled to be released in the United States on September 22, 2017 by Warner Bros. Pictures. Six teenagers are "hired" by an old master (Jackie Chan) and become ninja heroes at night, defeating monsters and riding awesome vehicles to protect the far-away land of Ninjago and its capital city. Meanwhile, a hungry warlord (Justin Theroux) plots for revenge on his brother, who is the master that trained the ninjas. Main article: List of Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu characters On September 17, 2013, it was announced that Warner Bros. Pictures was developing an animated Ninjago film based on the Lego toy line Lego Ninjago, which the Hageman brothers, who wrote Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu and co-wrote the story of The Lego Movie, would be writing the film adaptation.[3] Charlie Bean would direct the film, and would be produced by the The Lego Movie team of Dan Lin, Roy Lee, and both Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

[3] On June 27, 2016, the films voice cast was announced which included Dave Franco, Michael Peña, Kumail Nanjiani, Zach Woods, Fred Armisen, Jackie Chan, and Abbi Jacobson.[2] More voice cast was announced which included Justin Theroux as Lord Garmadon and Olivia Munn as Koko. The Lego Ninjago Movie will be released by Warner Bros. Pictures on September 22, 2017.[4] It was originally scheduled for a September 23, 2016 release.[5] A short film, The Master, that promoted the feature film was shown in front of screenings of Storks, which took the September 23, 2016 release date.[6] On February 8, 2017, the first trailer was released featuring the song "Bad Blood" by Taylor Swift. The trailer was shown in front of screenings of The Lego Batman Movie. ^ a b c d ^ a b c d e f g hIn addition to a fantastic new poster for Wonder Woman, Warner Bros. has also revealed another teaser poster for The LEGO Batman Movie, which will join Gal Gadot’s standalone film at Comic-Con tomorrow — along with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Kong: Skull Island and more.

Although the latest poster for the animated Dark Knight’s new spinoff film is a little misleading, it’s still pretty cool. Our only question is this: Will we see a full trailer for The LEGO Batman Movie in Hall H tomorrow afternoon? Just this week WB debuted new images from The LEGO Movie spinoff, featuring Zach Galifianakis’ Joker, Michael Cera’s Robin (which is Dick Grayson and not Carrie Kelley, despite the resemblance) and — surprise! Hopefully we’ll learn who’s voicing The Joker’s partner-in-crime during tomorrow’s panel. Here’s the new teaser poster, which features the tagline “It’s on” — kind of misleading, since he hasn’t donned the cowl just yet. Maybe “It’s about to be on” would be more appropriate: The LEGO Batman Movie features the voices of Will Arnett as Bruce Wayne / Batman, Rosario Dawson as Barbara Gordon / Batgirl, Ralph Fiennes as Alfred Pennyworth, Mariah Carey as Gotham’s mayor and Susan Bennett (Siri!) as Batman’s computer.

In the irreverent spirit of fun that made "The LEGO Movie" a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure: "The LEGO Batman Movie." But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up. Written by Frederick Edward Weatherly Performed by Liam Neeson See more » Contribute to This PageThe LEGO Batman Movie is but one of multiple animated LEGO films that Warner Bros. Pictures has in the pipeline, in the wake of The LEGO Movie‘s unexpected critical and commercial success back in 2014. LEGO Movie animation co-director/supervisor Chris McKay is calling the shots on the LEGO Batman Movie, drawing from a script penned by Seth Grahame-Smith (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) and directing a voice cast that includes Will Arnett reprising his fan-favorite LEGO Movie turn as the LEGO-ized Caped Crusader. LEGO Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who are both producing all of the in-development LEGO films and co-wrote the upcoming The LEGO Movie Sequel, previously teased that the LEGO Batman Movie‘s premise is based on a simple question: “Can Batman be happy?” It has since been revealed that the film will examine that question through a storyline wherein Arnett’s grouchy and self-concerned LEGO Batman picks up a pair of sidekicks – in the forms of Dick Grayson/Robin (Michael Cera) and Barbara Gordon/Batgirl (Rosario Dawson) – and must learn to work alongside them in his ongoing battle with super-villains like Joker (Zach Galifianakis).

Or, as McKay put it, The LEGO Batman Movie is “‘About a Boy’ as directed by Michael Mann.” WB has now released the first trailer for The LEGO Batman Movie online (see above), ahead of the trailer being attached to select prints of (fittingly enough) Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in theaters. Here is the official synopsis for the film, followed by the teaser poster: In the irreverent spirit of fun that made “The LEGO® Movie” a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up. It’s generally a dubious prospect when a popular side character – or characters – from a hit film (be it animated or live-action) gets their own spinoff movie (see, for example, the mixed feelings about Minions), but the teaser trailer for The LEGO Batman Movie alone illustrates that there’s more comedic gold to be mined from Arnett’s LEGO-ized iteration of the iconic DC Comics superhero.

Furthermore, part of the fun of LEGO Batman in The LEGO Movie came from how he interacted with the LEGO characters around him too, so that makes the decision to include both Robin and Batgirl in the character’s “solo film” – along with regular Batman movie staples like Alfred Pennyworth (voiced by Ralph Fiennes) – all the smarter a move on the part of McKay and Grahame-Smith; especially since the very point of the movie is that Batman needs to learn to get along with others, a premise that lends itself to both useful life-lessons for kids and fun nods to Batman’s history on the big screen for older moviegoers (see the teaser’s references to Batman movies past). In short: The LEGO Batman Movie may now be the upcoming Batman movie that many of the Caped Crusader’s fans are most excited to see. The LEGO Batman Movie opens in U.S. theaters on February 10th, 2017, followed by Ninjago on September 22nd, 2017, The LEGO Movie Sequel on May 18th, 2018, and Billion Brick Race on May 24th, 2019.
