— Batman's second line when entering the game “It's time to dispense some justice.” — Batman's third line when entering the game Batman is one of the Starter Pack characters in LEGO Dimensions, from the DC Comics franchise. When a young Bruce Wayne witnessed his socialite parents shot dead by the mugger, Joe Chill, he vowed to bring justice to the criminals infesting Gotham City. He then trained himself in detective skills, sciences, engineering, escape artistry, martial arts, and criminal psychology. But Bruce realized that those skills would not be enough to stop the superstitious and cowardly lot plaguing the streets. While he was in his study reflecting on his parents' deaths, a bat flew into the window, both startling and inspiring him at the same time. He would become the bat to strike fear in those who preyed upon the innocent. And so, Bruce then took his mantle as a crime fighter and became known as Batman. Over the years, Batman has made many enemies such as The Joker, Penguin, Two-Face, Bane, among many others.

Batman also has many allies as well, such as his Butler and former Guardian, Alfred pennyworth, Police Commissioner Jim Gordon, Robin (Tim Drake), Nightwing (Dick Grayson, the original Robin), Red Hood (Jason Todd, the second Robin), Batgirl (Jim Gordon's daughter, Barbara Gordon), and the Justice League, which Batman is a founding member of. He and his sidekick Robin were chasing Bane in the streets of Gotham City, but he witnessed Robin being sucked into a vortex with a Kryptonite. He came to the Mines of Moria in Middle-earth to Gandalf's aid as he was about to slay the Balrog, rescuing him from being killed in the pit below. After Frodo being sucked into the vortex with the One Ring, the two soon found themselves in Cloud Cuckoo Land, where they met Wyldstyle, just after Metalbeard went missing: a petty fight between him and LEGO Movie Batman occurred. Soon, the trio sucked into another vortex, sending them into Vorton, and after rebuilding the LEGO Gateway, they arrived at the Yellow Brick Road in Oz, starting their journey to save the LEGO Multiverse.

I have to thank Rock99rock for posting the last article on my behalf. Rock99Rock has posted an article which outlined some new changes that affect Ideas submissions in their first 60 days: projects must get at least 100 supporters in two months or they will be withdrawn.

I believe this change will be good for the Ideas concept; a preliminary target of two supporters per day or an early project expiry should help clean up the Ideas site. There have also been some changes to how the filters and navigation works as well. I hope all these changes will draw disaffected followers back to the site and that LEGO Ideas becomes more popular. With these comments in mind, here are eight LEGO Ideas projects that I would like to promote this week. I encourage you to add your own comments to these choices and links to your favourite projects in the comments below. Over the last few years, new parts have been added to the LEGO system which help build curved, organic models. As his name implies, Shark Builder has submitted several shark projects to Ideas. All of these projects have some interesting building techniques and they all capture the fierce sea predator look. I selected the Mako project as "Mako" is a name that is derived from the Maori language of New Zealand.

This project has 249 supporters and with over 400 days to run. I like the clever way in which JKBrickworks has made a LEGO pop-up book by incorporating hinge pieces and a catch. There are several ways in which stories can come alive and the project offers a few suggested stories to pop-up. This project has over 4000 supporters and more than 500 days to run. I am sure it will reach the 5000 supporter milestone and receive a further 182 days. LEGO have produced a few Creator style vehicles that are listed on Brickset with the tag 14 Wide Car. The Jaguar E Type is an iconic car from the 1960s. This is another Ideas project that attempts to capture the much curved look of the car that was dubbed "the most beautiful car ever made" by Enzo Ferrari when it was first released in 1961. The Series 3 Roadster was released in 1971 and came with a massive 5.3lt V12 engine (326.1 ci). Is there room for another Ideas vehicle after the recent release on 21307 Caterham Seven 602R?

This project has close to 1500 supporters with over 500 days to run. While this is listed as a modular City store, it looks as if it could be a stand-alone building. It is also smaller than most modular buildings that appear in Ideas. I like the pink candy-store look of this model and could see this appealing to a diverse range of LEGO fans. The project has 360 supporters with just less than 400 days to run. I hope it achieves the 1000 supporters milestone soon. Pete's Dragon is a movie that was released by Disney in August although this project is based on the original film released in 1977. The original film combined live-action and animated content: Elliot the dragon was animated while all the other characters are played by real actors. I am not sure whether the Disney IP will affect this project's popularity. This project has 461 supporters but only 180 days remaining. If you are a Technic aficionado, then it is quite likely that you will have viewed Sariel's YouTube reviews of LEGO sets and his MOCs.

Sariel's pet hamster features in all his video posts and here he has made a LEGO model for prosperity. This is a creative LEGO model of a cute furry hamster. This project has over 2000 supporters with just under a year to run. What appealed to me about this project was the fantastic steam-punk look to the model. The project is based on the movie "Hugo", which was in turn based on the book "The invention of Hugo Cabret" by Brian Selznick. This model also uses those large 40-tooth gears from the original Technical sets of the 1970s. This project has 840 supporters with 277 days to run. It should get past the 1000 supporter milestone. My final featured Ideas project is the LEGO Designer. This small vignette has some features that remind me of my relationship with LEGO. There is an AFOL designer working at a computer with a LEGO model on display, ready to be photographed for a review that will soon be posted online. I just wish my LEGO studio was as tidy as the studio portrayed in this model!
