On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (December 1st, 2016) John Campea, Jeremy Jahns, Kristian Harloff, Christ Stuckmann, Ken Napzok, Natasha Martinez and Wendy Lee discuss the following: Legendary Pictures announced yesterday that Goosebumps director Rob Letterman has been tapped to direct the live-action Pokemon movie, Detective Pikachu. The studio closed a deal earlier this year to acquire the film rights to the property that quickly went into development on a new movie while the Pokemon Go craze was at its peak. Captain Marvel writer Nicole Perlman and Gravity Falls’ Alex Hirsch are writing the script with a release date yet to be determined. The character of Alpha 5 has always had an unusual design that seemed to work inside the universe created in the original Power Rangers tv series. And now, it looks as though Lionsgate is going for something a little different for their upcoming movie adaptation. Yesterday saw the release of some concept art of Alpha 5’s new redesign courtesy of IGN.

We’ll see the new look in action when Power Rangers hits theatres in March 24, 2017. In honor of Ridley Scott’s 79th birthday yesterday, 20th Century Fox released a behind the scenes image from the set of Alien: Covenant of what appears to be the original Space Jockey from the first movie Alien. This also seems to tease a direct connection between Alien and its second prequel Covenant. The movie is scheduled to hit theatres on May 19th, 2016. Phil Lord and Chris Miller returned to produce The LEGO Batman Movie after helming The LEGO Movie for Warner Bros. The duo promised that the standalone film would pay tribute to the cinematic legacy of the Batman character and now, thanks to a twitter, co-director Chris McKay has confirmed that Billy Dee Williams will reprise his role of Harvey Dent from the Tim Burton directed Batman movie. The size of Williams part remains to be seen so we will have to wait until February 10th, 2017 to find out more. According to a press release, Nicolas Cage will star in the sci-fi film The Humanity Bureau.

The movie will place Cage in a near future ravaged by the effects of global warming where a government agency exiles American citizens to a colony called New Eden if they are deemed unproductive to society. Cage’s character, Noah Kross, discovers something shady about their agency’s dealings and sets out to expose them. No release date has been set. And thus an empire was born. I’m speaking from a place of ignorance here, so forgive me if I’m missing out on something really special. Apparently the latest leg of our shared Pokemon existence is something called Detective Pikachu. It must be a big deal because they’re putting this guy in a movie. Not just a movie, but a live-action one directed by Goosebumps’ Rob Letterman.

And that’s not all. This is expected to be the first of a whole Detective Pikachu franchise. Ten years from now, I may call this the greatest series ever. Until then, I will remain puzzled about what crimes in the Pokemon universe Detective Pikachu actually needs to investigate. Or how effective he is at it when he only knows how to say one word. Or how that hat even stays on his head. I'm beginning to think I am not the target audience for this. Rumor: Max Landis Might Write The Live-Action POKEMON Movie Here we go again. Pokemon Go: Better Than VR Why AR is the more exciting technology.2016’s Pet Rock, aka “Pokémon Go,” is a thing I will never quite understand. Clearly, I’m in in the minority, with legions of people trespassing onto property and putting themselves into danger to gather points in the augmented reality mobile game.

And so of course, Hollywood isn’t far behind with a movie — yep, those rumors were true. Legendary Entertainment and The Pokémon Company have announced they’re fast-tracking a live action film for a 2017 production based on the Japanese video game “Detective Pikachu.” The movie will bring to life one of the most popular Pokémon characters, though further details of how his story will be told are being kept under wraps for the moment, and I can only imagine that’s because they have no idea yet what it is. But I’m sure some screenwriter is inking a deal right now to put pen to paper and figure it out. It’s a bit of a risk considering that by this time in 2017, we’ll hopefully be remembering what a wacky time it was when everyone was playing “Pokémo Go” and Donald Trump was running for President. But Legendary seem to have enough faith that the brand will sustain and they’ll be catching a wave. No word yet on a writer or director, but before you laugh at this idea, just remember that at first glance, everyone thought “The Lego Movie” was a stupid concept too.

Through reviews, articles and discussions, we want to spark intellectual thought, spiritual growth and a desire to follow the command of Colossians 2:8: "See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ."YOUR STORIESFamily uses Plugged In as a ‘significant compass’"I am at a loss for words to adequately express how much it means to my husband and me to know that there is an organization like Focus that is rooting for us. Just today I was reading Psalm 37 and thinking about how your ministry provides ways to 'dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.'

We have two teenagers and an 8-year-old in our household...Plugged In has become a significant compass for our family. All three of our kids are dedicated to their walk with Christ but they still encounter challenges. Thanks for all of your research and persistence in helping us navigate through stormy waters."Plugged In helps college student stand-up for his belief"Thanks for the great job you do in posting movie and television reviews online. I’m a college freshman and I recently had a confrontational disagreement with my English professor regarding an R-rated film. It is her favorite movie and she wanted to show it in class. I went to your Web site to research the film’s content. Although I had not seen the movie myself, I was able to make an educated argument against it based on the concerns you outlined. The prof said that she was impressed by my stand and decided to poll the whole class and give us a choice. We overwhelmingly voted to watch a G-rated movie instead! I’ve learned that I can trust your site and I will be using it a lot in the future.”

Plugged In brings ‘Sanity and Order’ to Non-believer“Even though I don’t consider myself a Christian, I find your Plugged In Web site useful and thought-provoking. No one reviews movies like you do. Instead of being judgmental, you put entertainment ‘on trial.’ After presenting the evidence, you allow the jury of your readers to decide for themselves what they should do. In my opinion, you bring sanity and order to the wild world of modern day entertainment. Keep up the good work!”Mom thinks Plugged In is the ‘BEST Christian media review site’"Our family doesn't go to the movies until we go online and check out your assessment of a given film. I think this is the BEST Christian media review website that I've found, and I recommend it to my family and friends. Keep up the good work!"SUPPORT THE WORK OF PLUGGED INOur hope is that whether you're a parent, youth leader or teen, the information and tools at Plugged In will help you and your family make appropriate media decisions.

Sequestered with scads of other Pokémon and no humans in sight, Pikachu and his friends try to relax and have a good time, but are interrupted by a ravenous baby Topegi (a new egg-type Pokémon) who won't stop crying, a contentious bunch of Pokémon and an ill-fated Charizard who gets his head stuck in a pipe. Positive messages far outweigh negative ones. Pikachu and his companions care for the Topegi and try to keep a raucous group of Pokémon from disturbing the baby. When disputes arise, they are settled by sport as Pikachu wants to set a good example for the youngster.

Yes, he looses his temper after being shocked by a rambuncious Raichu and the ensuing battle ends up snaring the poor Charizard in his pipe-prison, but he and the other Pokémon quickly band together to free the creature. Even the normally selfish and aloof Marowak is swayed by their example and he works with the group, finally freeing the dragon. At the end of their vacation, the misunderstandings between Pikachu and the rough-housers are resolved and they leave friends. Patience, unity, peace, and negotiation rather than violence are all rewarded, making Pikachu's Vacation a morally rewarding quarter-hour (if not a mind-numbing one for parents).Positive Spiritual Sexual Violent Crude Profane Drug Alcohol Other ElementsConclusionPro-social Objectionable Summary Plot Christian Other SystemsProfanity/Kissing//HomosexualityDiscussion Additional /NotesEpisode ReviewsCreditsRatingNRReadability Age RangeGenreSci-Fi/FantasyKidsAnimationAction/AdventureAuthorCastVoices of Ikue Ootani, Phillip Bartlett,
