Fraser (10), a pupil at Craigclowan who sings in the school’s concert choir, joined the stars at the film’s premiere in London’s Leicester Square on February 4. A combination of his good voice and his mum’s media connections got him the chance to record the tune, ‘I Found You’, which plays over the end credits of the film. Fraser’s mum Gill Murray is a professional food photographer and blogger who works between home in Perth and jobs in America. A happy result of her jet-setting career is that Scottish composer Lorne Balfe, who has created countless movie scores, is a great friend and godfather to her younger son, Struan. “Last summer, Lorne got to hear Fraser sing. He was composing the music for the Lego Batman Movie, and I think he must have carried my son’s voice in his head, because he asked Fraser to come and record the song,” Gill explained.
“So we went down to Lorne’s recording studio in London just before Christmas to lay down the track.” For the Lego Batman Movie premiere, Fraser was delighted to miss a day of school so he could travel back to London for the Saturday celebrity film opening. The event was in the morning and there were lots of things put on for younger guests. The world premiere of his newest film took place this morning at St Charles’ Primary in the town. Morgan said: “I’ve had this project in the pipeline for a number of months now. Paisley’s had a rich cultural history. It does have a lot to offer. “The promotional video basically brings to life some of the most famous exports from Paisley. I think making it with Lego is quite quirky and brings a bit of humour to it all. “There are 14 different scenes which are a mixture of famous faces, architecture as well as some of the industry from Paisley. The high school pupil spent four months making the scenes for his latest creation and added music and sound effects. The video features 14 historic moments either featuring famous people from Paisley or highlights of the town’s cultural heritage. Gerard Bulter is another star to appear in Lego form Morgan is one of several individuals and groups who have received funding from Paisley’s Culture, Heritage and Events Fund (CHEF). He added: “Paisley have always supported me for a good number years now since their first Lego exhibitions which they hosted at Paisley Museum. “When I learnt about the Paisley’s 2021 bid I thought it was an excellent initiative for Paisley as a town and that it would benefit a lot of people. “I thought I’d give something back and share my animation knowledge through this promotional film and my workshops which I’ll be hosting in the coming months.” Morgan, who lives in Kilbarchan, near Paisley, will also deliver digital filmmaking and animation workshops at schools in the area.
