This is my NextDespite what many commentators say, the first quarter of any given year has plenty of great movies hidden in plain sight. January 2017 already has at least three very good movies on its calendar – Staying Vertical, The Salesman, and The Red Turtle – and February will see the release of Raoul Peck‘s exceptional I Am Not Your Negro and Jordan Peele‘s Get Out. Even the big studios can put a few minor or major delights into their first quarter on occasion, which brings us to The LEGO Batman Movie. For all the not-undeserved criticism levied against The LEGO Movie, it remains a tremendous joy to watch and is genuinely hilarious for all of its fleet-footed runtime. And though The LEGO Batman Movie doesn’t have Phil Lord and Christopher Miller overseeing its production, the footage that’s been released thus far suggests that director Chris McKay, who served as co-editor and animation supervisor on The LEGO Movie, has done well by the original film’s legacy.

The latest TV spot for the movie gives us a slightly longer look at the relationships between Will Arnett‘s Batman and Zach Galifianakis‘ Joker, as well as Michael Cera‘s Robin. There’s a feeling of spontaneity and unpredictable humor in every scene teased here. Indeed, the trailer, which you can take a look at below, suggests that January and February will be a fine time to go to the movies. The LEGO Batman Movie will be released on February 10th. Here’s the new extended spot for The LEGO Batman Movie: Here’s the official synopsis for The LEGO Batman Movie: In the irreverent spirit of fun that made “The LEGO® Movie” a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.

The LEGO Batman movie gets a brand new trailer Many great men have called themselves Batman. David Jason in that Only Fools & Horses episode. But we would argue none are as great, or indeed as gravelly voiced, as Will Arnett, who returns to voice the Caped Crusader in blocky form for The Lego Batman Movie. Our theory continues to seem correct in this brand new peek at The Lego Movie's first spin-off. Watch the latest trailer below. There’s been a couple of very entertaining trailers already (including this rather brilliant one from Comic-Con), but this gives us our best look yet at the first of several new films in the Legoniverse. We catch our diminutive hero at a lonely time in his life, accompanied only by his loyal butler Alfred (Ralph Fiennes). It’s not until excitable sidekick Robin (Michael Cera) comes along that Bats learns to spread his hi-tech wings. Along the way, he’ll do battle with classic foe The Joker (Zach Galifianakis), and be forced to work with Barbara Gordon (Rosario Dawson), who appears to be in Commissioner Gordon’s role, rather than her usual Batgirl/Oracle incarnation.

Directed by Chris McKay, expect The Lego Movie’s deft balance of knowing witty comedy (did you spot those signs at the beginning?) and colourful stop-motion-inspired CG animation when The Lego Batman Movie arrives in UK cinemas on 10 February, 2017.The spin-off from 2014's The Lego Movie will be released in February 2017 The new trailer for The Lego Batman Movie has been released. Then let The LEGO Batman Movie be your saviour. A new trailer has dropped for the spin-off to Phil Lord and Chris Miller's animation mega-hit The LEGO Movie, and everything is once more awesome; with Will Arnett returning to voice the Caped Crusader, even taking the time out for a jab about Warner Bros.' own epic hero clash. "Come catch your greatest enemy," Zach Galifianakis' Joker teases.

Batman retorts that his greatest enemy is actually Superman, as the trailer cuts to a shot of the pair clearly imitating Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - complete with Superman's glowing red eyes. A great little self-referential take from the studio, in what's promising to be an absolute riot of a film. Arnett and Galifianakis are joined here by the likes of Ralph Fiennes (voicing Alfred), Michael Cera (voicing Dick Grayson/Robin), Rosario Dawson (voicing Barbara Gordon/Batgirl), and Mariah Carey (voicing Gotham's mayor). Indeed, cameos seem to be a major part of the upcoming animation. "We’re nothing but exhaustive about the cameos and other characters that try to enter Batman’s life," director Chris McKay has stated, who worked as animation director for The LEGO Movie; which hopefully spells reappearances by superfriends Superman (Channing Tatum), Green Lantern (Jonah Hill), and Wonder Woman (Cobie Smulders). First look at the LEGO Batman movie "We thought if we can tell a well-rounded, funny story that’s action-packed, we can build a big movie around this character," McKay has also said.
