It’s staycation season again and hotels across South Florida are ramping up their offers for locals who want to skip long TSA lines at the airport and stay near home.Close to a dozen new hotels have opened here since last summer, offering locals added incentive to put the “stay” in their staycation. Experience the mix of urban and historic at the cozy boutique Langford Hotel in downtown Miami. See Brickell from a rustic, Asian rooftop bar 40 stories in the sky at EAST, Miami in Brickell City Centre. Indulge in the flamboyant luxury of Miami Beach’s glory days at Faena Hotel, or opt for more understated, beachfront hip at Nautilus Hotel. Not quite up to an overnight stay? Some local hotels offer pool passes by the day. (Moneywise tip: Leave the car in a public garage or take Uber to avoid valet fees that can run as high as $45.)Attractions also are offering summer specials, such as the Summer Savings Pass from Zoo Miami, Miami Seaquarium, Lion County Safari and the Museum of Discovery and Science, which includes unlimited visits to all four attractions through Sept. 30 at $56 for adults and $46 for children ages 3 to 12.While many deals are available through August, some are timed to months that have become high points on the summer agenda.
In Miami-Dade, June is Film Month, with the 20th annual American Black Film Festival from June 15 to 19, the Miami Independent Film Festival June 25 and 26 and the Miami Short Film Festival on June 29. July and August bring Spa Months, with deals starting at $109 at 39 spas within hotels around the county. August and September bring Miami Spice Month, when participating Miami restaurants will offer three-course meals at $39 for dinner and $29 for lunch.Broward County is offering a Summer Savings program with destination-wide two-for-one deals at local attractions, cultural venues, restaurants and spas. From Aug. 15 to Sept. 30, 30 resorts and spas will participate in Greater Fort Lauderdale Spa Chic, which touts discounts of up to 50 percent on spa services.
