Undoubtedly one of my most anticipated films of 2014 is The Lego Movie.  The animated film comes from writers/directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 21 Jump Street) and features a fantastic ensemble voice cast that includes Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Neeson, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, and Morgan Freeman.  Today, Warner Bros. has unveiled the first logo for the film along with the announcement of a neat-sounding contest that gives fans the opportunity to have some of their own work appear in the film.  Hit the jump for more and to get a good look at the logo. based on the story of The Lego Movie.  The film centers on Emmett, a minifig who is mistaken for the most extraordinary person in the LEGO universe and is drafted into a fellowship of strangers tasked with combatting an evil tyrant from destroying the LEGO world as they know it. Click on the logo below to enlarge, and read the full press release below that, which includes specific instructions on how to enter the contest and what you can win:

will have a one-of-a-kind, hands-on opportunity to take part in the growing excitement for The LEGO Movie by creating a 15-30 second video clip based on its story, in the “LEGO ReBrick Movie Competition.” The winning video could be featured in the film, the first-ever, full-length theatrical LEGO adventure, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures, opening February 7, 2014. The fan-produced clips will relate to an exciting scene in the film, in which the citizens of the LEGO universe rally to prevent an unspeakable disaster. They do this by quickly disassembling the elements of their environments, brick by brick, and rebuilding them into fantastic and fun hybrid vehicles and tools—the stranger and more innovative, the better, like rocket/dragons or butterfly/speedboats—to take part in an epic battle. Using only LEGO bricks and non-licensed LEGO minifigures, contestants will select a character and set their action sequence in one of their favorite LEGO worlds, such as LEGO City, Space, Pirates, Western, Vikings, Dino, Castle, and others.

Building Challenge page, where it will be open for voting from the entire ReBrick membership. The 25 videos earning the most “Likes” will ultimately be reviewed for creativity, originality, theme and suitability for the film by a panel of judges, including Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, writers/directors of The LEGO Movie. The Grand Prize winner will receive a trip for two to Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California, for a VIP Tour; a meeting with the directors, to participate in a LEGO build; an exclusive LEGO film camera designed and built by the official LEGO model shop; plus souvenir items from the movie’s set, signed by the designers. His or her winning entry may also be edited into the film’s big battle sequence. Second and third place winners will also be honored, as well as winners of bi-weekly prizes selected during the challenge’s six-week run, for a range of additional prizes, including tickets to the Studio’s tour, The LEGO Movie merchandise, a $200 gift card for the Studio’s online store, and a feature spot on The Official LEGO Channel on YouTube.

Submissions will be accepted from March 25, 2013, at 9:00 A.M., until May 6, 2013, at 8:59 A.M., EDT. Videos must be between 15-30 seconds and be captured using a camera that is at least 3.2 megapixels, and framed to fit within a 2.40:1 aspect ratio. Submissions must contain only LEGO elements and figures with no customized parts, must follow the ReBrick House Rules, and must be suitable for children. Local regulations and complete prizing information can be found on the Contest Rules page, with additional guidelines, examples and updates available at microsite ReBrick.it/LEGOMovie. Winners will be announced on May 20, 2013. The LEGO Movie, for which you can see the new title treatment above (click it for a larger version), opens in theaters February 7, 2014. The 3D computer animated adventure tells the story of Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world.

The LEGO Movie stars Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Neeson, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie and Morgan Freeman as the voices of the animated characters. The film is directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller (21 Jump Street, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) from their original screenplay, and story by Dan Hageman & Kevin Hageman and Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, based on LEGO construction toys. It will incorporate some of the LEGO world’s most popular figures while introducing several new characters, inviting fans who have enjoyed the brand’s innovative toys and hugely popular video games for generations to experience their visually unique LEGO world as never seen before. The film will be produced by Dan Lin (Sherlock Holmes, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows) and Roy Lee (The Departed, How to Train Your Dragon). The Penguin Arctic Roller Set Robin™ in the Batcave I saved the city again. It was off the chain Never laughs at Harley Quinn’s jokes.

The Lego Movie logo in this MOC by Lucifer Adams is fantastic and the best real-life representation of the logo I’ve seen. I recreated it in Lego Digital Designer while I consider ordering the parts for it (just over 600). Right now the individual LEGO letters aren’t joined together — I’m planning on using a couple of baseplates across the bottom but I’ve left these out of the LDD file.Size of this preview: 640 × 412 pixels. My face looks amazing. current14:22, March 22, 20131,191 × 767 NpgcoleIt’s been three weeks since we had a major news story surrounding the LCU (LEGO Cinematic Universe) movies. But don’t worry, you can finally rejoice as we have yet another major LEGO-related news story to give you, this time focusing on one of the two LEGO movies set to come out in 2017 (no, not The LEGO Batman Movie). Thanks to a massive scoop from fan site Brickset (later picked up by The AV Club and /Film), we finally have solid details on the plot and voice cast of The LEGO Ninjago Movie, as well as our first look at the official logo, which you can see down below:

All of the details come courtesy of a catalog from Los Vegas’ 2016 Licensing Expo, where the movie was promoted as part of Warner Bros. Consumer Products’ marketing programs for their tentpole movies (The LEGO Batman Movie and S.C.O.O.B were also shown there, so expect some potential news updates to come for those movies as well). The film, directed by Charlie Bean (in his feature film debut) from a screenplay by Dan and Kevin Hageman (writers and executive producers on the Masters of Spinjitsu series) and Brian Shukoff and Kevin Chesley (MTV’s The Hard Times of Rj Berger), will provide its own take on the Ninjago property as set in the continuity of the universe established in 2014’s The LEGO Movie. With that said, here’s the plot synopsis of the film: Ninjago is the story of six young ninja tasked with defending their island home, called Ninjago. By night, they’re gifted warriors, using their skill and awesome fleet of vehicles to fight villains and monsters.

By day, they’re ordinary teens, struggling against their greatest enemy: high school. As always, the voice cast for the film employs a number of A-list talents, in particular a mix of established and up-and-coming actors. Martial Arts movie legend Jackie Chan, best known to animation geeks for his role as Master Monkey in the Kung Fu Panda films, will star in the role of Master Li. He leads a voice cast that includes Dave Franco (Now You See Me 1 and 2) as Lloyd, Michael Pena (Ant Man) as Kai, Kumail Nanjiani (Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time, HBO’s Silicon Valley) as Jay, Zach Woods (NBC’s The Office, HBO’s Sillicon Valley) as Zane, Fred Armisen (Saturday Night Live) as Cole, and Abbi Jacobson (Comedy Central’s Broad City) as Nya. The film, as previously described, will be a action-packed genre mash-up of kaiju films, martial arts movies, and anime. In keeping with that tone, the concept art that was shown at this year’s CinemaCon was described as a LEGO version of Pacific Rim.
