0 people have been hereLego has always be the smart kid’s toy, but Lego Dimensions is a smart toy in its own right. Intelligent mini-figures that unlock levels and worlds, tonnes of film franchises and brick building combine for a joyous celebration of play. Lego Dimensions is like Skylanders. It uses NFC tags in toys to access in-game content. Only here the toys are proper build-able Lego sets from brands like Scooby Doo , Doctor Who , Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, The Lego Movie and The Lord of the Rings. Getting started you spend as much time fiddling with Legos as you do clasping the controller. From there you learn how moving minifigures around the USB Toy Box peripheral controls what they can do in the game - grow, shrink, warp, colour and attack with fire, water or ice. It looks the business and will be familiar if you’ve played Lego video-games before. Here though, rather than offering one big franchise, 14 different films, comics and TV characters are mashed up together.

There is a catch though, the price. The starter pack is around £79-£89 (depending on which platform you have) and the extra expansions packs are £15-£25 each. To buy everything will cost over £300. However, what you get in the starter pack is much more generous than competitors like Disney Infinity. It includes the Toy Pad USB peripheral to read characters in, three minifigures (Wyld Style, Gandalf and Batman) and a Bat-mobile vehicle. In a generous master stroke you can access all 14 of the different franchise levels without extra purchases. The three minifigures enable you to play as those characters as well as access the Lord of the Rings, The Lego Movie and DC Comics open worlds. Expansion packs enable players to control other characters and unlock more of the related open world spaces. There are also special level expansions packs that add another campaign area to the main adventure. To complete the main adventure will take a good 12 hours and longer to collect everything. Then you have the open worlds to explore.

It’s a lot of fun in the family, particularly played in co-op mode. Kids will love the Lego game-play and mums and dads can revisit classic films of their own childhood. There are also smart Lego vehicles that can be upgraded and transformed into three different forms. This unlocks new abilities to access to areas and progress the game. On next generation PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Wii U it looks the business. On Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 it also holds its own. Unlike Skylanders Superchargers though, there’s no version for Wii owners. Provided parents can say “no” to pestering for additional expansions , Lego Dimensions is a fantastic option for families looking to play together. The level of imagination, humour and inventiveness stands out in an already crowded marketplace to offer considerable value and, most of all, fun.LEGO® Power Functions Motor Setproduct_label_list_price_accessibility 52 Reviews123451FIND MORE PRODUCTS LIKE THISTechnicVehiclesMotorize your LEGO® Technic creations with the Power Functions Motor Set!

Shoppers can spend hours trawling the internet to find the best bargains. But saving money online could be as simple as clicking ‘buy’ on a Monday rather than on the weekend.Research suggests some items are up to 18 per cent cheaper on online stores at the beginning of the week than on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. It is thought customers could save hundreds of pounds a year simply by changing the day they shop on the internet. Research suggests some items are up to 18 per cent cheaper on online stores at the beginning of the week than on a Friday, Saturday or SundayWeb retailers are able to tweak their prices by the day – or even by the hour – depending on demand, what rivals are charging or even the weather. Some do this manually, while others have clever software running complicated algorithms that monitor their sales.Demand tends to soar over the weekend as customers have more time to sit and browse the web, and it seems many retailers take advantage of this to push up prices.

In the research, the cost of 7,642 products in 12 categories was analysed over three months by price comparison website idealo.co.uk.It found traditional family games such as Monopoly, Pictionary and Twister were an average of 18.1 per cent cheaper on a Monday than a Friday. Sunglasses were typically 17 per cent cheaper and video games were 15.2 per cent less on a Monday than a Saturday.Idealo did not offer actual cash figures for the price hikes, but their findings suggest those who shop online only at weekends could end up paying hundreds of pounds extra over a year. The research, which appeared to focus on leisure items, also found tents and fitness trackers were 7.8 per cent cheaper at the start of the week, trampolines were 7.7 per cent less and there was an 8.9 per cent saving on suitcases. Smaller differences were seen for games consoles, lawnmowers, running shoes, car seats and barbecues.Katy Phillips, of Idealo, said a common mistake customers make is to assume they know where to find the cheapest prices and buy items before checking elsewhere.

Amazon has been accused of using bogus ‘official’ prices to make its discounts look bigger. The web giant has been posting ‘recommended retail price’ (RRP) figures that are higher than they should be next to its own prices. For example, it sold Lego Duplo bricks for £19.95, which it claimed was £6.51 cheaper than a £26.46 RRP. In fact, the RRP was £20.99 – so the actual saving was just £1.04, The Sun reported. Amazon insisted any inaccurate prices were accidental and has corrected them. She said: ‘Whilst there was no one cheapest day across all the categories, our survey revealed that for 11 of the 12 purchases, the items were cheaper at the start of the week, and the most expensive days to shop were over the weekend. The digital age allows merchants to adjust their prices from one second to the next, depending on any number of relevant factors.‘This leaves the retailer able to set flexible prices that change occurring to the most current market demands, and thereby increasing their profit margins.‘
