He appears in for the franchise. The original version of Benny came out in 1984, in set 6824 "Space Dart", thus him being called "1980-something space guy" by Vitruvius. Since he is an old minifigure, he has a worn out appearance with his chest logo being partially erased and his helmet cracked at one spot. The cracked part on his helmet is said to cause oxygen to leak from his suit, which is alleged to affect his brain. As a result, Benny holds an all-too-happy attitude and short-term attention span to everything but those involving spaceships, even getting so excited, his vocabulary completely turns into yells of "SPACESHIP!"

However, when times call for extended travel between worlds, his vast knowledge turns invaluable to those whom need it--and an undamaged spacesuit, too. Benny also has a sibling relationship to both Red Classic Spaceman and White Classic Spaceman. Benny joins Emmet's team and helps them build a submarine to escape. Then him and the rest get saved by Emmet's Double-Decker Couch and Metalbeard comes back for them and the Master Builders team up to stop Lord Business from using the Kragle by building a spaceship to get inside. Him and Metalbeard sneak in the control room to disable the shield, but get captured by Bad Cop. After Emmet rescues them, Benny and the others go downstairs to the TV studio to get everybody's attention to stop Lord Business. After the announcement, Benny builds a spaceship to get to Bricksburg, but were stopped by the Micro Managers. Emmet returns to stop them and the team help him out and hold them off. After the battle, Benny celebrates with the others.. Benny shows up at the Octan Tower when Wyldstyle said that gravity is all wrong.

Then he gets sucked into a vortex, after he said that he would have noticed something like that. It is possible that Benny may get captured, however, then return back to his world. Bruce from the Block: Chris McKay helps the Caped Crusader get in touch with his inner belfry in ‘LEGO Batman Movie’I think we can all agree that you don’t need to care a lick about football to watch the Super Bowl. Hell, I think more than half the audience only shows up just for the ads, which is pretty much the only time in this age of DVR and fast forwarding through them that this happens. Regardless of one’s interest in the game, though, it’s safe to say that the game is an event that becomes pretty all-encompassing over the course of the weekend when it’s played. Also known as this past weekend. You might also have noticed that the box office grosses for the last few days weren’t terribly high, but even if you didn’t, it’s no problem, because I did, hence our conversation here. The thing is, while the month of January has long been known as a dumping ground for the worst and least appealing offerings on the studio slates, that has changed somewhat of late.

Really, with year-end limited releases turning into wide releases the first or second weekend of the new year (see, for instance, Hidden Figures, which has done tremendous biz against little competition), January is now something of a thriving marketplace. As a result, rather than an entire month dedicated to the lost and forlorn destined for the box office graveyard, it’s now boiled down to one very specific weekend.Let me throw some numbers at you. Over the last three years, there has been a stark drop off in grosses from the week before, and then a sharp rise coming the week after. In 2014, the weekend before the Super Bowl did $154.6 million, followed by a 26 percent drop to $114.1 million, then a 69 percent rise to $192.9 the week after. A year later, it went from $202.7 million to $136.4 million (a drop of 33 percent), to $187.7 (up 38 percent). And, in 2016, it went from $174.8 million to $126.6 million (minus 28 percent), to $329.7 million (up a whopping 160 percent, thanks to a little movie called Deadpool).

Which leads me to ask the obvious question, why on earth would a studio release a movie on this weekend? I mean, sure, there has to be something new every week, I guess, but you really know where you fall in a studio’s pecking order if you get a call that I imagine goes something like this, “Hey, Buddy. Good news and bad news.” “Good news first,” you say. “Your movie has a firm release date.”It’s, er … well …”Those are both good times to sneak in and make some money.” “(A whispered and indecipherable sentence.)” “Um … sorry, I didn’t catch that. What did you say? When are we coming out?” There are some indistinct sounds then. A clearing of the throat. A clack or two at a computer keyboard. The thing is, this weekend was no different, down from $141.2 million last week to $96.6 million over the last three days. This coming week, with three major releases scheduled to hit theaters — Fifty Shades Darker, John Wick Chapter 2, and a little thing called The LEGO Batman Movie — the chances of the box office grosses being enormously higher than this past weekend’s are approximately 1,000 percent.

Nothing against the horror movie Rings and the teen romance The Space Between Us, of course (and the smaller release of the Robert De Niro flick, The Comedian), but they don’t really hold a candle to next weekend’s trio. And, while I get the counter-programming intent of these films coming out over this past weekend, it strikes me as more and more of a fool’s errand to put anything new in theaters over the course of these three days on the calendar. Obviously, there are exceptions to the rule, like The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, which did $55 million on this weekend two years ago. The year before that, The LEGO Movie did $69 million. See a pattern here? It actually makes me wonder why Warner Bros. didn’t put LEGO Batman into theaters this week, instead of next. I’m sure it’s still going to take the top spot, but why even bother with the competition when you don’t have to? Take me as an example. I will absolutely and positively see both LEGO Batman and John Wick, and I think that goes for a good number of the moviegoing populace.

Again, taking nothing away from this weekend’s entries, but the forecasts for both Rings and horror holdover Split were in the $12-14 million range, which is right where they each ended up, with the former at 13 and the latter at 14.5. Same for Space, which was forecast at $8-10 million, and finished far below with 3.8. Seems to me, The LEGO Batman Movie would have dispensed with said competition rather easily, and would not have run into the same resistance it might this coming week with the other two major releases, but then again, no one is paying me for my expertise on matters regarding slate scheduling. I mean, someone definitely should, but that’s another conversation entirely. Anyway, if there is one foolproof, tried and true counter-programming strategy to employ when it comes to this particular weekend on the calendar, it would seem to be animated fare. With that in mind, we can take a look one year hence to the current release schedule and see that, sure enough, on Super Bowl weekend next year, Friday, February 2, 2018, the one movie on the slate is …
