Concerned that some of its students might suffer long-term emotional distress from prolonged proximity to Donald Trump’s inauguration, a club at Georgetown University is offering a restorative safe space with Legos, stuffed animals, juice boxes and snacks. The event, called “Self-Care Night,” is sponsored by GUPride, the school’s LGBT organization, and is designed to help students who spend time protesting this weekend to reconnect with their “inner children,” and de-stress. “Join GUPride for a night of relaxation, recovery, and rest after a long week,” an email invitation sent to Georgetown GUPride members states. “There will be Legos and stuffed animals and coloring books—come to embrace the inner child and hang out with people :)” Despite being in the heart of the nation’s capitol, Georgetown does not appear to have any special Inauguration-related events planned for the weekend (students have Friday off). However, students from Georgetown plan to attend the massive “Women’s March” on Saturday.
Georgetown’s College Democrats had also asked students to make their apartments and dorm rooms available to students who might be visiting for the protests. Regardless, anyone who is triggered by the weekend’s events is invited to take part in Monday’s safe space. After a “long week,” the organizers say, such a activities are no doubt warranted whether you’ve taken an active part in opposing the incoming administration or not.Christoph Waltz Has The Worst Marriage In Georgetown He'll make his directorial debut and star in the crime drama That Christoph Waltz intends to slip behind the camera and start directing films isn’t too much of a surprise – he’s already developing a romantic comedy called Up And Away. But it appears he’s closer to making The Worst Marriage In Georgetown, a new true crime drama. Waltz has a script in progress by Proof’s David Auburn that adapts a New York Times Magazine article written by Franklin Foer. It explores the story of Albrecht Muth, a strange, cunning social-climber who married an older widow called Viola Drath.
Though seemingly a happy couple that threw big parties at their lavish home, there was a dark side, one that came out when Drath was found murdered and the revelations about Muth’s lies were pushed into the light of day. The actor will also star as Muth and has locked in funding from Voltage Pictures, which will sell the rights to the film at Cannes. Waltz aims to have the cameras rolling this October. As for his acting career, Waltz will next be seen in Spectre, due here on Friday October 23, in which he is definitely not playing Blofeld. Skip to main content Athens Christian’s Campbell Abbott signs with Georgetown College Just under two weeks after National Signing Day, Athens Christian’s Campbell Abbott joined the list of Athens-area athletes who will play college football. Abbott signed with Georgetown College during a ceremony at Athens Christian Tuesday. “It’s a big sigh of relief knowing that I can have this done and be able to go somewhere and contribute and play football,” Abbott said. “It’s been a dream of mine to play college football so it’s a huge blessing.” Abbott (6-2, 307 pounds) played on the offensive line for Athens Christian, which went 7-4 and reached the Class A Private playoffs. “They’re getting a great character kid,” Athens Christian coach Chris Williams said. “A kid that doesn’t know the word quit, academically is very strong and work ethic is out of this world.” Front of House Takes Shape Our front of house is starting to give us an early preview of its final form.
