While some of us at FSR like Ben Affleck’s Batman, I consider him another piece of trash in the dumpster fire that is Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Fortunately, another version of the Caped Crusader is here to make me feel good about the character again: LEGO Batman. After the new live-action mess of a DC Comics adaptation, we need to be able to laugh. And The LEGO Batman Movie is helping. The first teaser trailer also features the rest of the Justice League heroes otherwise trapped in the Batman v Superman flames, namely Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg. Plus it’s got Green Arrow and Green Lantern, too.Voiced by Will Arnett, LEGO Batman returns following his debut in one of the best movies of 2014, The LEGO Movie. And here’s hoping his solo adventure is one of the best of 2017. Even if the whole thing is just a robed Bruce Wayne still wearing his cowl watching his Lobster Thermidor heat up in the microwave. There’s no sign yet of the Batman-specific characters set to appear in this spinoff, including Robin (Michael Cera), Alfred (Ralph Fiennes), Batgirl (Rosario Dawson), the Joker (Zach Galifianakis) and Mayor Marion Grange (Mariah Carey).

Or much in the way of a plot. But we do get to see him flying in his Batwing and kicking some bad guy butt, and more importantly we see him busting out some beatbox skills and lying about his Batarang throwing precision. This is both the hero we need now, and it’s certainly the Batman we deserve. He definitely has a right to drop that mic.Is Warner Bros. showing this ahead of Batman v Superman? Because that might send audiences the wrong message ahead of their super serious superhero team-up. Its playful irreverence is the antithesis of the DC Extended Universe’s no-nonsense tone and might remind viewers that these are just silly comic book characters. Actually, that’s beneficial for anyone going into Batman v Superman.Related Product: Lego Movie, The (Blu-ray)And after, when they’re really bummed out about how bad the new movie is, they can recall that there’s a bright, computer-animated light at the end of the bat cave tunnel. The LEGO Batman Movie, written by Seth Grahame-Smith ( Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) and directed by Robot Chicken’s Chris McKay, arrives in theaters in less than a year, on February 10, 2017.

The best part of The LEGO Movie was, obviously, Batman. Will Arnett gave us the version of the Dark Knight we never knew we needed, but oh man did we need him. Angry, brooding, and wonderfully self-involved, Arnett’s Batman was quite possibly the greatest cinematic version of the character ever. He had a charm about him that few Batmen have ever captured. Also, he was a total dick. It makes sense then that the Warner Bros. would give us a full length LEGO Batman movie. So far, our hopes have been high, as the teasers that have been released so far have been pretty good. Well, hold on to your butts, because the wonders of Comic-Con have given us a full length trailer that is a work of pure magic. It’d be easy to miss this one, what with Warner Bros. unleashing a Justice League trailer AND a Wonder Woman trailer yesterday. Oh, and there we trailers for Kong: Skull Island and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, too, plus some pretty big Marvel announcements. It was big day at Comic-Con, in other words, but The LEGO Batman Movie definitely deserves some attention, because it looks absolutely hilarious and all kinds of amazing.

This trailer gives us a better idea of what the movie will be about, namely Batman taking on his young ward and training the kid to become Robin. There’s jokes about how Robin’s costume comes to be, and lots of amazing Batman and Alfred interactions. The best bit comes when comes Robin points out that the Batcave is hidden below Wayne Manor. Batman, with frustration replies, “No, Bruce Wayne lives in Batman’s attic.” The LEGO Movie really was beyond anything we had expected from a film about a bunch of toys. Charming, heartfelt, and exciting, The LEGO Movie really turned out to be something special. The question is, can The LEGO Batman Movie capture that same energy and audience? Can Arnett’s Batman be as funny when he’s delivered to you nonstop instead of same, comedic doses? Warner Bros is hoping so, and judging from the trailer, it looks like they might have nailed it. We know we’ll be checking this one out. Featured Image: Warner BrosThe spin-off from 2014's The Lego Movie will be released in February 2017

The new trailer for The Lego Batman Movie has been released. The film is a spin-off from 2014’s The Lego Movie, and features the voice of Will Arnett as the eponymous protagonist, as well as Zach Galifianakis (The Joker), Michael Cera (Robin), Rosario Dawson (Batgirl), and Ralph Fiennes (Alfred Pennyworth). Mariah Carey will also lend her voice to proceedings, playing the role of the Mayor of Gotham City. The film is scheduled for a release date of February 10, 2017, and a new trailer – the third teaser to be released so far – for the film was unveiled over the weekend at Comic-Con in San Diego. Watch the trailer below. The Lego Batman Movie is the first of three Lego-based films in the works. It will be followed by Ninjago, a Ninja-themed spin-off which will arrive on September 22, 2017, and then The Lego Movie Sequel, which is due on May 8, 2018. Released in 2014, The Lego Movie was a surprise smash for Warner Bros, raking in more than $468million (£301million) at the box office worldwide.

When "The Lego Movie" was announced, folks were skeptical. The idea of a film based entirely around a child's plaything seemed like a two-hour commercial at best. But then Phil Lord and Christopher Miller's movie debuted and you could hear the collective jaws from audience members around the world hit the floor with a thud. It was funny, fresh, created out of fantastically mesmerizing Lego animation. The movie would go on to gross $469 million worldwide and spark a collection of spinoff films and a sequel. And today we're met with the first teaser trailer for the spinoff movie for Lego Batman, one of the more beloved members of the "Lego Movie" builder bunch voiced by Will Arnett. Now it's Batman's time to shine in his own feature film, "The Lego Batman Movie." And unlike his current live-action movie counterparts, this Batman is funny. Arnett is back voicing the gravel-voiced, millionaire who loves black, gray and darker gray. Chris McKay, who was animation co-director and editor on the original "Lego Movie," is directing.
