Rather than slather the screen with eye-gouging swaths of color, the film's ever-shifting palette incorporates convincing lighting to lifelike ends. Hues are bright and bold when Emmet strolls through a bustling city; dusty and sunburnt when he and Wyldstyle travel to the Old West; cast in cold blues and positively sinister greens in Lord Business' lair; sickeningly sweet when the Masters arrive in Cloud Cuckoo Land in Middle Zealand; and bold and triumphant as Emmet and Wyldstyle bring the fight back to the streets. Primaries are vivid, black levels are deep and satisfying, and contrast is consistently filmic and strong. And oh the detail. The chips along the edges of the plastic characters. The fingerprints you'll catch sight of when the light hits Benny or Lord Business just right.
The wear and tear of a fading decal. The imperfections of a brick. It's all there to be discovered and pored over in high definition. Edges are clean and natural, free from ringing or aliasing, and textures are refined and close-ups striking. If you didn't already think the world of the animation, you will now. Better still, there isn't a hint of significant macroblocking, banding or any other encoding issue of note. This is about as pristine and impeccable as they come. Fans will be overjoyed. The LEGO Movie Blu-ray, Audio Quality Matching The LEGO Movie's video presentation high-point for high-point is Warner's wonderfully enveloping DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround track. In fact, the only nitpick I can even muster is that it isn't a 7.1 mix. And when that's your chief complaint, you know you're listening to something special. Low-end output is big and boisterous, throwing weight and power behind every blast, explosion, crash and collision, as well as lending presence to anything and everything that calls on the LFE channel for assistance.
Rear speaker activity is both aggressive and playful too, latching onto every scattered block, incoming attack craft, lumbering machine, approaching robot or off-target Batarang launched across the screen. Directionality is precise and involving, pans are smooth, and dynamics never falter. Dialogue isn't shortchanged either, arriving with ever-intelligible, impressively grounded voices that are never disconnected from the soundscape or compromised in any way. Masterfully prioritized, without issue or incident. This is about as good as The LEGO Movie -- or any animated movie for that matter -- could sound.Emmet Brickowski � un cittadino felice di una ridente metropoli fatta di Lego di cui rispetta tutte le regole: segue la musica trasmessa dalla tv, � gentile con gli altri e si reca diligentemente al lavoro (costruire palazzi) esattamente come gli viene detto di fare dalle "istruzioni". Proprio al cantiere un giorno incontra una ragazza e per errore casca in una voragine nella quale entra in contatto con un pezzo speciale, oggetto del desiderio di una setta di ribelli di cui Emmet non conosceva l'esistenza.
La sua vita viene cos� trasformata in quella di un avventuriero e, nonostante non ne abbia le qualit�, l'aver ritrovato il pezzo speciale lo rende "il prescelto". Scopre cos� che il sindaco della sua citt� � in realt� un dittatore di diversi mondi (fantasy, west, spazio ecc. ecc.) dotato di un piano per cambiare l'universo come lo conoscono. Dovrebbe essere il simbolo della mancanza di idee ad Hollywood un film sui Lego, in realt� � l'esatto contrario: un tripudio di trovate come non ne vediamo di frequente, portate avanti con una comicit� molto intelligente che non usa solo la voce ma anche il "corpo" dei personaggi. E' tutto giocato su un doppio livello The Lego movie, pensato con finalit� commerciali, veicolo per la casa di giocattoli e ulteriore lancio della loro linea di mattoncini (se ne vedono quasi tutte le diverse tipologie di "set") ma anche opera tra le pi� interessanti e autoriali della Hollywood mainstream, affidata alla coppia che negli ultimi anni ha ridefinito la comicit� di grosso incasso.
Nella storia infatti ogni evento e personaggio ha un doppio significato comprensibile solo alla fine, ma anche dal punto di vista realizzativo sembra di intuire che le finalit� fossero duplici. Phil Lord e Christopher Miller, come gi� in Piovono polpette, girano un film sul valore del caos, enfatizzando ancora di pi� la componente anarchica del loro pensiero grazie a un protagonista che vive una vita spensierata, senza accorgersi di essere in realt� disperato e distratto dai media di un regime autocratico capace di tarpare ogni gioia attraverso le "regole". L'elogio della devianza sociale e la conseguente condanna di tutto quanto sia un prodotto industriale per l'intrattenimento (comicamente effettuato in un film che rientra a pieno in questa categoria) vive per� solo per met� film. Nella seconda parte infatti The Lego movie pare quasi contraddirsi per come cambia, svelando una seconda natura (si cambia mondo e si scopre l'esistenza di un'altra realt�) decisamente pi� a favore delle "istruzioni".
Alla stessa maniera anche la realizzazione � doppia. L'animazione stop motion realizzata con veri pupazzi Lego in veri ambienti costruiti solo con mattoncini, � infatti il 50% dell'opera, poich� in moltissimi punti (a partire dalle espressioni facciali) � in digitale che si � lavorato per animare. La fusione � perfetta perch� unendo le due tecniche Lord e Miller ottengono un'esplosione di tutte le possibilit� connaturate all'animazione di veri pupazzi (e nei primi piani si nota il loro essere di plastica reale) che indirizzano sempre verso una comicit� originale. Il risultato � che dopo una prima mezz'ora letteralmente folgorante, capace di unire le gag potentissime a una maniera molto sottile di raccontare la vita vuota di una persona come molte, apparentemente integrata nella societ� ma in realt� svuotata di umanit� da essa, il film lentamente si spegne. Da opera che sembra prendere le mosse da quel film geniale (sempre in stop motion) che era Panico al villaggio, per superarlo attraverso il coraggio di contraddire molti assunti del cinema per l'infanzia (dal melenso "sii te stesso" all'esigenza di "conformarsi alle regole"), il film di Lord e Miller diventa una parabola pi� canonica che scioglie ogni contraddizione di fronte a una generale armonia dei buoni sentimenti.
