I took my son to the Lego Batman movie premiere over the weekend, courtesy of Chevrolet, and to say we had a ball may be an understatement. It was like being two kids in a candy store, complete with an actual candy store. The premiere party had a skating rink, a video game truck, a Lego Batmobile building station, plus giant sculptures made of Legos, like Lego Batman himself playing a life-sized grand piano, and the Batmobile, face painting, a goodie bag, free food from the In-n-Out Truck, the Free Range chicken truck (OMG so good), a pizza & pasta bar, an ice cream truck, a paleta cart, the aforementioned Dylan’s Candy Bar, Lego and Batman themed cookies, cake pops, cupcakes and rice krispie treats – which would already be enough to make it an amazing party – and then as we entered the movie theater, who did we run into, but Mariah Carey and Will Arnett, both of whom voiced characters in the film and both of whom brought their kids along to watch. The Lego Batman movie is terrific, with clever writing, wonderful voice-acting performances, sophisticated animation, and a touching storyline that’s really heartfelt and charming.

My son and I really enjoyed it. If you’re a fan of Legos, the DC Comic book Universe, Will Arnett or good movies in general, I predict you’ll enjoy this movie, too. We’re indebted to Chevrolet for inviting along to such a fun afternoon. Here are 20 of the best Lego birthday parties and Lego cakes including a ton of free printables!
