The Lego Movie 2 has been delayed (Picture: Warner Bros) If you were counting down the days until the sequel to The Lego Movie, you should probably seek out a new hobby or pastime for the next couple of years. The Lego Movie 2, which was originally scheduled to be released on May 18th 2018, has now been pushed back a whole nine months to February 8, 2019 – and frankly, we’re absolutely livid. A reason for the delay has not been clarified, but following how excellent the original was – we can only assume the ‘awesome’ dial wasn’t quite up to snuff. For the sequel, The Lego Movie writer and directors Phil Lord & Christopher Miller will remain as screenwriters alongside Michelle Morgan and Jared Stern. Directing the follow-up however will be Rob Schrab, who has previously penned and directed episodes of TV comedies like Community, The Mindy Project and Children’s Hospital. Little is known plot wise, but Lord and Miller have previously hinted it’ll take place four years after the first film, and will see a significant increase in female characters.

But that doesn’t answer the biggest question – will it feature a… The announcement came in a flurry of reshuffled release dates from Warner Bros. including pushing forward Ben Affleck’s Live By Night to January 13, 2017 and pushing back the Gerard Butler-led sci-fi Geostorm to October 20th, 2017. If you fancy Lego movie action a bit closer to the horizon however, spin-off The Lego Batman Movie is set for release on February 10th, 2017. MORE: Everything is awesome! Doctor Who could be starring in The Lego Movie Sequel MORE: There’s going to be a Star Wars spin-off film about a young Han Solo with The Lego Movie directorsThe LEGO Batman movie gets a brand new trailer Many great men have called themselves Batman. David Jason in that Only Fools & Horses episode. But we would argue none are as great, or indeed as gravelly voiced, as Will Arnett, who returns to voice the Caped Crusader in blocky form for The Lego Batman Movie. Our theory continues to seem correct in this brand new peek at The Lego Movie's first spin-off.

Watch the latest trailer below. There’s been a couple of very entertaining trailers already (including this rather brilliant one from Comic-Con), but this gives us our best look yet at the first of several new films in the Legoniverse. We catch our diminutive hero at a lonely time in his life, accompanied only by his loyal butler Alfred (Ralph Fiennes). It’s not until excitable sidekick Robin (Michael Cera) comes along that Bats learns to spread his hi-tech wings. Along the way, he’ll do battle with classic foe The Joker (Zach Galifianakis), and be forced to work with Barbara Gordon (Rosario Dawson), who appears to be in Commissioner Gordon’s role, rather than her usual Batgirl/Oracle incarnation. Directed by Chris McKay, expect The Lego Movie’s deft balance of knowing witty comedy (did you spot those signs at the beginning?) and colourful stop-motion-inspired CG animation when The Lego Batman Movie arrives in UK cinemas on 10 February, 2017.Home / News /

Enter ‘The Lego Ninjago Movie’ Trailer Warner Bros. is going all-in on their Lego Movie franchise and I’m all for it. 2014’s The Lego Movie is one of my favorite animated films of the past decade and all signs point to The Lego Batman Movie being just as great when it arrives this weekend. So where does this fall’s The Lego Ninjago Movie fit into the scheme of things? It also happens to look like a lot of fun. Check out the synopsis and trailer below… 6 ninjas are “hired” by an old Sensei (Jackie Chan) and become the “heroes” at night, defeating monsters and riding awesome vehicles. Meanwhile, a hungry warlord (Justin Theroux) plots for revenge against Wu and his ninja proteges. I have to say that it is a bit weird that we’re getting two Lego Movie spin-offs before we actually get the still-coming The Lego Movie 2. That said, Warner Bros. Animation seems to know what they are doing here. Plus, while it lacks the global brand value of Batman, Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitsu has been a popular subset of the Lego brand since 2011.

Add in the fact that people seem to love the first two Lego movies and you have a solid recipe for another hit. The Lego Ninjago Movie is the third film in Warner Bros. Animation’s Lego Movie series. The animated picture is directed by Charlie Bean, from a screenplay by Dan Hageman, Kevin Hageman, Bryan Shukoff, and Kevin Chesley. The project is produced by Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Chris Miller, and Phil Lord. It showcases the vocal talents of Dave Franco as ‘Lloyd’, Michael Pena as ‘Kai’, Kumail Nanjiani as ‘Jay’, Olivia Munn as ‘Koko’, Zach Woods as ‘Zane’, Abbi Jacobson as ‘Nya’, Fred Armisen as ‘Cole’, Justin Theroux as ‘Lord Garmadon’, and Jackie Chan as ‘Sensei Wu’. Adventure Family Animation Sequel Ask Question    Show CommentsSo much shade being thrown aroundSomeone—well, thebrickranger, specifically, did the now standard “Lego version of a superhero movie trailer” for Logan complete with red Play-Doh for Wolverine’s many wounds. However, I don’t remember the last time I’ve been quite so emotionally moved by tiny plastic mini-figures. Part of it is the trailer itself, which of course features an older Logan covered in wounds from his constant battles, and a Professor X who has lost most of his incredibly powerful mind. I mean, the also standard “superhero movie trailer recreated with old animated series footage” version nearly brought tears to my eyes. But I really suspect the real culprit here is Johnny Cash’s cover of Trent Reznor’s “Hurt,” which I think would make The Trolls trailer tragic and haunting. If someone wants to put that to the test, I won’t stop you.The LEGO Batman Movie The LEGO Batman Movie - First Official Trailer
