The Iranian government is considering a new policy on the issue of hijab, which may include wearing hijab inside the car. A senior police officer stated that a project named 'Nazar-1' will be launched soon to increase surveillance on women wearing hijab in cars. Car owners will first be warned by text message if the law is violated, and legal action will be taken if it continues. The new policy has not been officially announced yet, but there are indications of increased strictness on the issue. This comes after protests over the death of Mahsha Amini in police custody over the hijab issue and the controversial police force's abolishment in December 2022.
