Tempur Sealy, senior management of Mattress Firm and representatives of its new parent Steinhoff International began discussions on new terms and notified the mattress manufacturer that if an agreement could not reached it would terminate all contracts. Tempur Sealy indicated that a number of ‘considerable changes’ to its agreements, including significant ‘economic concessions’, were raised and that all parties were unable to reach an agreement. Therefore, Tempur Sealy has issued formal termination notices for all of the company’s brands to Mattress Firm as of 27 January 2017.
Scott Thompson, Tempur Sealy chairman and CEO, said: “Ultimately, we concluded that it was in the long-term interest of all of our stakeholders to terminate our contracts with Mattress Firm.
