Imagine drifting into your best night's sleep Feel weightless with a mattress that adapts to your body Experience advanced performance in every detail Dive into the deeper layers of your sleep Discover our TEMPUR sleep range Experience TEMPUR for yourselfKeep a second cover on hand for accidents or to minimize laundering frequency. Your Sealy Tempur-Pedic memory foam mattress is technically not made of memory foam; it's constructed of Sealy’s patented TEMPUR material. The bed regains its shape more quickly and lasts longer than standard memory foam products, although the cleaning methods are similar. You cannot clean the mattress with water or liquids of any type; instead, keep it covered with a clean mattress cover, and address spills as quickly as possible. Keep It Covered The salesperson isn’t trying to increase his commission by suggesting a mattress cover; you need one for a Sealy Tempur-Pedic mattress, preferably a waterproof cover. The mattress cannot be cleaned with soap, water or any of the typical cleaning agents used to reduce odors or eliminate spills, but a cover can be cleaned and helps prevent dust mite and allergen buildup.

In addition, use a cover intended for memory foam products. Padded covers don’t allow the mattress material to fully conform around your body. Regular Cleaning Once or twice a month, or as needed, wash the mattress cover with cold water and a mild laundry detergent on the delicate cycle in your washing machine. Dry the cover on the lowest setting or hang it up to dry before putting it back on the bed. While you're cleaning the cover, give the mattress a quick vacuum with your vacuum attachment. Wipe down the attachment with an antibacterial wipe first to prevent transferring any odors. Dealing With Accidents Spills on a Tempur-Pedic mattress require speed and strategic thinking. If you have a waterproof cover, remove the sheets and lift the corners of the mattress cover off the mattress, bringing them in toward the center of the bed to contain the spill and prevent runoff. Remove the cover and rinse it in cool water before washing it as you normally would. If the cover isn't waterproof, remove it and wash it as directed by the manufacturer, and use towels to soak up as much moisture as you can.

work until the towel comes up dry. Let the mattress dry completely and sprinkle the area with baking soda. Wait a few hours and vacuum up the powder. You cannot wash or use products to treat any lingering stains; however, the baking soda will assist in soaking up any odors. Care Tips and Tricks With a cover, the Sealy Tempur-Pedic memory foam mattress is fairly easy to take care of. Do not use bleach or any other harsh cleaning products on the cover or the mattress. The cover only requires laundry detergent, and the mattress should not be cleaned with anything except the vacuum and baking soda. Avoid using electric heating pads and blankets for longer than 30 minutes, and always keep the setting on medium or lower. Sealy states that its TEMPUR memory foam beds do not require rotating; however, turning the mattress every six months may still help the bed wear evenly. Cannot wait to try this stuff. - seriously great tipsMemory Foam Mattress with an Electric Blanket (or Electric Mattress Pad) There is no safety problem such as flammability with a decent memory foam mattress or topper (as contrasted with one of the cheap egg-crate type foams). Memory Foam Durability with Added Heat There seem to be two schools of thought on using heated mattress pads with memory foam. Some people say the memory foam mattress won’t support the bodyproperly if it is extra warm. Tempur-Pedic® states on their web site that they do not recommend using electric blankets or mattress pads because the “exposureto direct heat over extended periods of time can cause damage to the TEMPUR material”. Tempur-Pedic® further suggests that if at bedtime your mattress is too cold, try turning up the bedroom thermostat for twenty to thirty minutes before going to bed. Once you are in bed, the mattress will warm up quickly in response to your body heat. If you do choose to use an electric blanket to warm your mattress before bedtime, we recommend that you turn it off after 30 minutes to avoid overexposing the TEMPUR material to high heat.

My personal opinion - not supported by rigorous objective testing Several years ago, I myself spoke to the Technical Director at another one of the memory foam mattress manufacturers and he told me there would be no problems. I tend to believe this version because I personally have slept on a memory foam mattress with heated mattress pads for about six years now and I do not notice any problems. In fact, during cold weather, my personal opinion is that the support and comfort actually work better due to the extra warmth and I didn't like the "cold brick" feel. And I definitely do not want to increase my house temperature. One of the major benefits of heated bedding is to save money and energy by heating only the bed, not the whole house. Since some memory foam manufacturers say no and some say yes, you will have to make the final decision whether to go with the heated pad on the memory foam. Sorry we couldn’t be more scientific or definitive.
