USA Track & Field Foundation announces 39 Youth Club Grant recipients INDIANAPOLIS – The USA Track & Field Foundation Chairman Bob Greifeld and Executive Director Tom Jackovic announced today it has awarded 39 Youth Club Grants to track & field clubs throughout the country. The grants assist young male and female athletes with expenses such as travel to meets, equipment, uniforms and facility rental. “One of the great things we do is provide grants to grass-roots organizations.  These groups provide many kids the opportunity to participate in track & field events, many of which come from low-income families. The clubs create a positive environment and involve the kids in a sport they can compete in for the rest of their lives,” stated USATF Foundation Director Bob West. The Foundation encourages youth track clubs and programs from all areas of the United States to apply for financial assistance. The Foundation favors the use of grant money to expand existing youth programs/clubs, to provide additional competitive opportunities for children and to enhance the experience for all participants.

Preference is given to clubs that are based in low-income areas. It also favors programs that have a history of solid financial management, multiple funding sources and community support. Allowable expenses include equipment, uniforms, meet fees, travel, facility rental, and outreach. A total of $55,095 in grants have been approved to the following youth clubs: 1ne Motion Athletic Corp. 288 Track Club (Coney Island) A Running Start Track Club Baltimore City White Knight Track Club Central Wisconsin Track Club Charles County Elite Track & Field Club Chicago Collins Warriors Track and Field Colorado Flyers Track Club, Inc. The theme of this year's ball was "Venetian Masquerade, A Night at the Carnival," and funds raised will benefit St. Luke's Behavioral Health Services. In an opening letter in the more than 50-page, glossy, full-color program book given to ball attendees, Richard A. Anderson, president & CEO of St. Luke's University Health Network, describes the ball as "celebratory and in the best tradition of the medieval masquerade ball, an elaborate party that commemorates significant life events." Ball-goers were treated to a mouthwatering three-course meal that began with the "Insalata," which consisted of arugula and radicchio with shaved parmesan reggiano, Kalamata olives, cherry tomatoes, artichokes, crisp prosciutto and polenta croutons, topped with Season's Tap Room olive oil and balsamic vinegar or creamy gorgonzola. Next came the main course, which included spinach and parmesan crusted filet mignon with red pepper coulis, as well as pan roasted Chilean sea bass with pesto sauce, served with basmati saffron rice and peas and steamed asparagus spears.

The dessert or "Dolce" course offered tiramisu, zabaglione with raspberry puree, chocolate truffle and fresh berries, a deluxe coffee station and a variety of Italian cookies and biscotti. The 2016 Charity Ball Committee included Honorary Chairs Joanne Regina and Randall Weston, Committee chair Amy Thompson, Vice Chair Lisa Amortequi, Auxiliary President Ann Marie Brogle and Advisor Virginia Oskin.Other members of the committee were: Adriana DeFrancisco, Ann Marie Zaladonis, Annette Horner, Ashley Russo, Barbara Burger, Beth Brown, Camie Modjadidi, Chrissy Hixson, Christina Connar, Christine Mira, Daniela DeFranco, Eileen Taff, Elena Capobianco, mittee members from St. Luke's University Health Network included: Patrick Bower, development; Bonnie Coyle, community health; Virginia Wagner, behavioral health; Georgina Winfield, volunteer services; Steve Andrews, marketing, and Mary DeHaven, marketing. Close to $35,000 was raised at the Two Rivers Health & Wellness Foundation's Annual Crystal Cabaret April 29 in the Grand Ballroom of Northampton Country Club in Easton.

The Crystal Cabaret is held the last Friday of April every year as the foundation's major fundraiser. It raises money for health care initiatives. The funds from this year's event are being used to improve the access of Northampton County residents to fresh produce through a mobile farmers' market known as the Eat Real Food Mobile Market. To support the market, Two Rivers is serving as a Catalyst Partner to the Kellyn Foundation, which has purchased a truck, trailer and an industrial sized cooler. In June the mobile market will begin visiting local neighborhoods identified as food deserts to sell produce from local farmers. The 125 guests enjoyed food stations that featured a Carving Station, Chicken Francaise, Salmon and a Risotto Bar, all prepared by the Chef at Northampton Country Club. The evening opened with a cocktail hour, followed by the program, dinner and dancing. Soul Rebels played music from the '50s through the '70s. During the formal program, Janet A. Mease, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Two Rivers, welcomed guests and sponsors.

Dr. Meagan Grega and Eric Ruth, co-founders of the Kellyn Foundation, provided an update on the Eat Real Food Mobile Market.Among the many special donors were the Vollrath Foundation for Education, Pennsylvania Trust Company, St. Luke's University Health Network, Earl and Bonnie Wismer, Paul and Judy Brunswick and Easton Hospital.Jennifer Marangos is a freelance writer. .ALLENTOWN CHAMBER DINNER: The Allentown Chamber Annual Dinner & Joseph S.
