I look forward to seeing you soon – Swayfield is a friendly, rural village of approximately 145 homes and two farms surrounded by beautiful countryside, untroubled by traffic noise or pollution. Church services are held every Sunday, at 9.30 am, and include a monthly Family Service led by the two local Authorised Lay Ministers, Morning Prayer, and two services of Holy Communion. Priest-in-Charge: Revd Stephen Buckman The Corby Glen Benefice is a group of six churches working together to show the love of God and to serve the communities they belong to: Corby Glen: St John the Evangelist’s Church Swayfield: St Nicholas’ Church Irnham: St Andrew’s Church Burton-le-Coggles: St Thomas of Canterbury Bitchfield: St Mary Magdalene’s Church Bassingthorpe: St Thomas a Beckett’s Church Services are held every week at Corby Glen, Swayfield and Irnham. Monthly services are held at Burton-le-Coggles, Bitchfield and Bassingthorpe.

Around fifty of Swayfield’s “Seniors” (anyone 60 years of age and their partner) attended the 2015 Christmas Party at the Village Hall and what a brilliant evening it was. The Hall was, as usual, beautifully laid out and very festive. On the afternoon of Sunday 15th November a number of people were seen entering Swayfield Village Hall in 1940’s period dress. There were ladies dressed as Land Girls, dressed in pinafores, one in furs, others in headscarves. There were gents in Zoot Suits; one, a spiv-like character with Trilby hat and thin moustache, had an armful of wrist watches and nylon stockings for sale.I hear you ask. Well, it was first to have “Tea & Cakes” served from the best bone china before being treated by the Fol Espoir Theatre Group to a hilarious production of “Instructions for American Servicemen in Britain”.
