“Palm Springs was founded on fun, and you can go to a party every night in this town,” said Abel when we joined him to check out the new Party Lab. McCallister and Abel are no strangers to party-planning; as the owners of event planning company Socialize Palm Springs, as well as Palm Springs collective boutique Raymond | Lawrence, this duo is well-versed in the art and science of throwing great parties and events. Their new incarnation of Party Lab now makes throwing great parties accessible to everyone. Abel took us on a sneak peek tour of the 8,000 square-foot showroom before it reopened on Sept. 15 and led us through the store’s many themed vignettes, such as ‘Disco,’ ‘Western,’ ‘Luau’ and ‘Fiesta.’ “The vignettes help paint a picture of an entire party concept, showing customers the exact formula for putting together for a great party,” said Abel. Party Lab’s slogan, “The Formula for a Great Party,” perfectly sums up the store, and with details like a periodic table wall of party “elements” (shown above) and the sales staff in laboratory coats, this concept is carried throughout the new and improved Party Lab.
“One really has to come SEE the new Party Lab to appreciate everything that’s been done, and we know that our ‘mad scientists’ here at the Lab will inspire you and transform your next party,” explains Director of Stores Carmen Moore. Above is “Francine,” the vintage yellow bug sporting eyelashes that sits amid a slew of great disco-ready costumes and accessories. It was important to Abel and McAllister that they include a great selection of high-quality costumes and accessories, both for Halloween and for themed parties throughout the year. And you won’t find costumes in bags at Party Lab; Abel and McAllister did away with the traditional bagged Halloween costume displays and instead have everything on hangers to help customers better peruse the expansive costume selection. An extensive new selection of sunglasses, shoes, jewelry and other accessories will help you complete your perfect costume ensemble, and we were especially taken by the new wig department, featuring wigs of every style and color.
Abel told us that there are plans to have wig stylists and makeup artists in the store at Halloween to help you design and perfect your look. Helium balloons are a must-have at virtually every celebration, and Party Lab has that covered with a massive selection on hand. A particularly exciting new addition to the store is a mini showroom by local party rental powerhouse, Signature Party Rentals. If you are planning an event that calls for rental chairs, tables, linens and/or tableware, Party Lab is now your go-to spot for selecting these elements, and then the Signature Party Rentals crew will deliver everything right to your doorstep. Rounding out the one-stop-shop concept, Party Lab also now features photo booth, DJ booth, lighting and dance floor rentals, and you can even taste-test cakes and desserts in order to select the perfect custom sweet treats for any soiree. Planning a luau or tiki party? Party Lab has virtually everything you could possibly need, including leis and sarongs in every color of the rainbow.
