To Emails:(separate with commas)Powered By Escapia Vacation Rental Software |The stakes are high when a wedding planner gets married, but Katie Dunn, 34, of La Fête in North Carolina, rose to the challenge when she wed Pablo Koe-Krompecher, 31, on September 1st, 2013, at Auberge du Soleil in Napa Valley, California. "I'm a sucker for a theme, so that made it easy," says Katie, who decided on 1920s Glam for her big day. "I wanted something a little out of the box, so we put a modern spin on it." And though she's a pro, Katie says the wedding-planning process revealed a new side of her. "I had no idea how much I loved sparkles!" she laughs.

Read on to see how the couple brought their vision to life, thanks to Megan Clouse."We booked the venue site-unseen," says the bride. "We loved the pictures and the view, and that was enough!" The playful script and shimmering envelopes of the couple's invitations set the mood for a formal yet fun celebration. For the '20s-inspired affair, Pablo wore a white Burberry dinner jacket with navy pants and a sleek straw fedora.Katie wore a lace Monique Lhuillier gown with a gorgeous illusion back. She paired the gown with an elegantly loose updo full of braids and curls."I worked with the bridal boutique to customize the dress," says Katie, who added a sparkly brooch at the bust. Her braided headpiece completed her modern-meets-Gatsby look. The dress's front slit revealed the bride's Jimmy Choo pumps."We skipped the bouquet and boutonniere," reveals the bride. Instead, Pablo wore a gold sequined heart pin on his lapel.Katie wanted her bridesmaids to be comfortable, so she let them choose their own dresses in a neutral palette of soft gray, nude, and blush.

The groomsmen wore classic navy suits and softly colored ties. Fedoras and sunglasses were the perfect finishing touch.Katie considered using headpieces as the women's escort cards, but didn't want to have to assign a headpiece to each woman. Instead, she set up a bar for the babes with a variety of bejeweled headbands. The men found a fedora and a pair of sunglasses alongside their escort cards. All the headpieces were made by the couple's wedding designer, Julia of Julia Lake Parties.Modern lounge furniture, topped with sequined pillows, put a contemporary spin on the 1920s-glam theme. Katie and Pablo invited their guests for cocktail hour before the ceremony, spending the time mingling with their guests, then gathered everyone into a circle and had the ceremony surrounded by everyone they love."We loved the feeling of being really enveloped in love," says Katie. Before Pablo and Katie exchanged rings, their officiant read "Sonnet XVII" by Pablo Neruda. "My husband's family is Venezuelan," says Katie.

"I loved the significance of having a reading from a poet with the same background."Candlelight and mercury votive holders cast a warm glow over the reception. Tables were topped with ivory sequined linens and clusters of arrangements of roses, dahlias, and hydrangeas in pink, peach, and cream. Each guest's place featured a place card embellished with jewels. After dinner, guests headed back outdoors for drinks and dessert overlooking Napa Valley.Instead of wedding cake, the couple served a variety of bite-sized desserts. The crowning glory was Katie's special request—glitter donuts! "We had months of back-and-forth with the restaurant to figure out how to make them glittery enough," she remembers. Guests were also offered miniature crème brûlée, chocolate tarts, and cream puffs."Our wedding was absolutely perfect," remembers Katie. "I wish we could do it again every year!" The couple remained in Napa for their honeymoon after the wedding before returning to North Carolina. As a wedding planner herself, you can be sure Katie has some good advice!
