There were old-fashioned gliders on the bottom of the chair that had long since stopped "gliding" and now were "gouging" - ouch!It took less than five minutes to pull out the old gliders and tap in these Magic Sliders 45369 Silent Chair Glide. The chair moves when I need to clean beneath it, but doesn't slide around the floor unnecessarily. pletely satisfied with the ease of use, and simplicity of design. I've used the Magic Sliders brand exclusively.Not Silent at All on Hardwood FloorsAs other reviewers have noted, these don't glide well on hardwood floors (and other hard surfaces). The problem I suspect is that they are made of nylon, which is designed to be softer than plastic. I tried them on two chairs and don't like the way they glide on our hardwood floor OR a stiff rug we have in our family room. Amazon sells something that I find works far better: Waxman 1-Inch Tap On Round Furniture Sliders, Oatmeal. I've put the round "oatmeal" ones on two other chairs and they glide as if they were on ice.
