Went into the Notts and walked into the bar, with the dog! Friendly welcome from the Staff and a dog friendly pub! Followed by a couple of pints of real ale. What a great way to finish a walk! Would certainly recommend a visit, without the car! I booked a family room at the Nottingham Hotel in Cleethorpes for 2 nights fri thro to Sunday for the air show weekend. Knowing nothing about the hotel nor much about Cleethorpes we were hoping of a well placed accommodation situation wise and a nice place to stay. We were not in the least disappointed on either count. We arrived Friday evening around 6.30 ish, to find the hotel was a public house, a traditional type of pub no further than 30 yards from the promenade road. We were shown to our room promptly, to a front facing sea view room, it had a lovely comfortable super king sized bed in the room, with a single bed equally comfortable for our 3 yr old grandson. It was decorated to high standards with a small but more than adequate en suite bathroom with shower cubical.
We ate in the restaurant room in the snug or option of first floor, we decided the snug. The food was excellent, well priced, good portions and very tasty, I recommend the fish and chips. Which indeed melted in the mouth. Breakfast was equally tasty and a decent sized portion, well cooked. Perhaps the option of fruit juice would of been nice, but this seemed absent. But in all was a good start to the day. A special mention to the attendance and attentiveness of all the staff throughout our stay, they were ever on hand if needed, friendly without been over bearing, but worked together as a very efficient unit, who appeared tomlove their work. For the drinkers, the pub downstairs served a plethora of different ales, ciders and lagers, which were sampled at times during our lovely hot sunny weekend in Cleethorpes. In all we couldn’t have wished for a better situated base to see the show from. If a downside, lack of parking. There is no parking area outside the accommodation, but in the side street, literally 90 seconds walk out back of hotel, is a municipal car park.
It costs maximum stay of 24 hrs £5, so it cost us an extra £10 for parking. But our central base for the show it was worth it. Would stay at this accommodation again, without a doubt. Room Tip: Request a Sea view.We stayed here for a weekend break and was pleasantly surprised. From the outside, the building looks a little tired but the dining room and bedroom were spot on. Very clean and very contemporary. Breakfasts were good quality and the customer service was nice – welcoming and polite but not intrusive. Would stay again without doubt. Please may I take this opportunity to thank you and your lovely friendly attentive staff a big thanks for making our stay with you this weekend for the Air show a 100% enjoyable experience. I forgot to enter comments in your visitor book, but safe to say, as much as the weather was perfect, the air show most enjoyable, but the lovely room, accommodation, in house food, variety of drinks available and the welcome we received on arrival and indeed on leaving, made us feel both welcome and special.
Our grandson Jacob was totally shattered after enjoying Cleethorpes, the air show and least of all Nottingham Hotel and it’s welcome. Same nights (fri-sun), same room(2), let me know when you require a deposit. lovely stay, room 2 looked out over the sea front and pier comfortable bed and well worth having our evening meal in the restaurant on the floor below, excellent food. What a warm friendly welcome. The rooms were fantastic. Spacious and well appointed. A lovely view of the sea. I can’t believe we missed this in the past. The owner met us and showed us where things were. A very comfortable stay just at the top end of town, so away from the hassle and bustle of the main front, that’s when it does get busy! I would like to convey my sincere thanks to the hotel owner and say that we will definitely be coming back. There is car parking at the rear in the form of a public car park.
The back stairs to the hotel for night access might not be suitable for the infirm, elderly or disabled. We stayed here the night of Weds 30 April and i must say that we were very impressed. A classic boozer with well kept beer, convivial regulars and a choice of three atmospheric drinking rooms with original features still intact. Upstairs is a well presented restaurant where we had a very well cooked and tasty breakfast overlooking the seafront. Our bedroom was really comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated – much effort has gone into this enterprise and it shows. In fact from the moment we walked in we were extremely well looked after – this is an establishment run by people who genuinely seem to care. Sea View Street is a really interesting little enclave in Cleethorpes with great shops, cafes & restaurants and comes highly recommended. We would visit again though just to stay at The Nott as it was that good – great beer, food, rooms and staff. What’s not to like!
