I do miss the full back of my old executive chair, but the various feature of the Leap overall are just so much better. Especially the tilt mechanism. This isn't a review of the seller. Got my chair fast and they did a good job shipping it. This is a review of the chair itself and the value of it. Even though it was an open box, the problems were more with how cheap this thing is. It definitely feels cheap. Gas cylinder wasn't working. Two problems with that. 1. The plunger adjustment that pushes the button on the cylinder wasn't set right and the seat would lower when you sat in it. 2. The button seemed to get stuck inside the cylinder. I bought a new cylinder and after finding a video on youtube (they don't seem to have any info on the steelcase website), I finally found out how to remove the seat bottom to adjust the plunger. Now it's working fine.
It has more options than a standard chair you'd buy at Walmart, but I don't see why there should be such a massive price difference. The open box price was less than half what these supposedly go for new. In my opinion, even a new one in the box is not worth what the open box price was. Personally, I think this is a $300 chair tops. cannot tell it's not new and fast shipment This chair is fabric and in impeccable condition. I cannot tell if it is not new. Shopping was amazingly fast too; arrived within a couple days. I highly recommend this instead of regular retail price which is more than double. Amazing for bad backs. This chair, with its brilliant design, maximum adjustability, and fluid reclining motion of both the back and seat provides amazing support for people with back injuries. Very high quality, heavy duty frame, many adjustments, very refined. Get 2 if you can.I was having back issues with a previous chair. This chair is super adjustable and high quality.
