As with plastic bricks, Lego can take the simplest of concepts and make a powerful, intelligent, and often witty statement. The approach taken with a typical Lego ad is often minimal, as you will see from the fantastic print ads in this gallery.

There really is no end to Lego creativity. As we get closer to the December release of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, fans are starting to piece together more and more of the movie’s plot, which is why any building blocks of the narrative are being cobbled together, no matter how small they may be. Since no block is too small, let’s see what we can do with the newest commercial for The Force Awakens sets from LEGO. The spot primarily features an X-Wing with loaded weapons you can fire, and while there does not appear to be a whole lot to garner about the film, everyone’s new favorite soccer ball droid, BB-8, seems to be the focus of a chase and rescue. The ad’s narrator says, “You can build the X-Wing and save the droid.” Shortly after we see the small droid jump into the ship as the narrator yells, “Watch out! Considering how much information R2-D2 carried around with him for the first six films (him knowing the entire prequels back story and never telling C-3PO is one of the truly great additions from episodes 1-3), how important will BB-8 be?

Kylo Ren does try to slice him in two at the start of the ad using his amazing lightsaber with the crossguard. If you can’t get enough of the team of Star Wars and LEGO, remember the internet is a wonderful place for such needs. Anything else we can gleam from this ad? Like I always say, the best speculation is the wild kind, so get wild with your theories in the comments below. Students from the Sao Paolo advertising school Escola Cuca have created a striking new ad campaign for the Lego Star Wars line of products, and the results are clever, funny and just plain adorable. Check them out after the jump. Laughing Squid pointed us to this campaign, which was produced by Diego Mourão and Gustavo Dorietto, with Lucas Mohallem providing copy.

I haven’t seen any word on where or when these ads will be released, but I wouldn’t mind running into these on my morning commute.I love the simplicity and playfulness of these ads. Some of the most impressive Star Wars-inspired Lego creations are incredibly complex works of painstaking labor, but these images go completely in the other direction. Each picture manages to tell a vivid story through only a handful of pieces, thanks in part to the well-known histories behind each character. The campaign reminds me of another colorful, minimalist series of Lego ads from a few years back, in which basic Lego blocks cast imaginative shadows.Of course, some people were already “making their own stories” long before this campaign launched. A couple of years ago, we featured a beautiful photo series titled Troopies365 by /Film reader Teymur (aka Icedsoul), which showed Lego Stormtroopers in various situations — cutting up a life-sized pizza, or running away from a menacing dinosaur toy.

More recently, we posted Lego recreations of scenes from Inception, as well as a gallery of all ten Best Picture nominees in Lego form. And then there’s the guy who, rather than tell his own story, decided to tell the actual Star Wars story — in two minutes, with “one heck of a Lego collection.”Discuss: Is it really necessary to spear a drumstick on your lightsaber and then also barbecue it? I mean, this is a weapon that instantly cauterizes flesh wounds, after all. Thanks to EB member just2good, we’ve already seen some high-resolution photos of the new UCS Slave 1 (75060), but you can now view it in even greater detail following the release of the official LEGO video!  After watching it a couple of times, I’m very impressed with the set and I’m sure that it will be an instant purchase for most OT fans.  It’s slightly larger than I’d imagined, but it’s minifigure-scaled so it will fit well with the UCS Falcon (10179) and Imperial Shuttle (10212).  The designer has replicated the ‘weathered’ look of the original model very well, by using a mixture of greys and greens, and it’s good to see a limited amount of stickers.

The set includes a detachable stand, which allows it to be displayed in a classic flight position.  My only criticism is that the underside looks slightly less detailed than the original, but overall it looks like a great set. Take a look at the video and then join in the discussion in the forum. Member Brickmamba found this picture of the upcoming UCS Sandcrawler which seems to be taken from the new Visual Dictionary. It includes Uncle Owen and three Jawas. There is also a new-looking Millenium Falcon that has been spotted in a trailer for the upcoming episodes of the Yoda Chronicles: Quest for the Holocrons. Could it be another upcoming UCS set? Discuss it all in our Rumors thread! Thanks to GRogall for alerting us to this video. There are some holographic augmented reality store displays that have been spotted in Denmark and Germany. They feature Lego Star Wars sets in a glass box with animations being projected on top of them to make the sets come to life!
