Collection and Recycling Centers (Residential use only, No commercial use)  LEXINGTON COUNTY RECYCLING BROCHURE Collection and recycling centersmap tour  This Map Tour provides an image tour of the Collection and Recycling Centers in Lexington County. HoursMonday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sundays 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and ThursdayClosed Other ClosingsClosed New Year's Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Inclement weather or other emergency situations may result in temporary closings of some or all collection and recycling centers on a per incident basis. Every effort will be made to notify the public if such closings are required. HOW TO PREPARE RECYCLABLES Items Accepted Household garbage compactor - house trash, items containing food debris, incidentals. Yard Trash compactor - Home and yard debris (e.g. unclean wood debris, furniture, home accessories, yard accessories etc.) Clean Wood waste compactor - (NO plastic bags/non-biodegradable containers, NO trash) includes clean yard debris (ie., grass clippings, pine straw, leaves, plant trimmings, branches), clean/untreated lumber and pallets (accepted at Ball Park, Bush River, Chapin, Edmund, Sandhills, and Southeast Collection Centers). 




Tree branches greater than 4 feet in length or 4 inches in diameter must be brought to the Edmund Landfill.  Clean wood waste is brought to the Lexington County Wood Grinding and Compost Facility where it is processed and made into compost and mulch for residents, municipalities and businesses. Recyclable Material compactors/trailers/bins - various separated items are accepted for recycling in appropriate container.  See "Recyclables Accepted" below. Recyclables Accepted (categorized by type and collection container/trailer, NO plastic bags) Cans    - Aluminum cans, aluminum trays    - Steel cans (place in scrap metal container)    - Aerosol cans (must be empty, discard cap and cap)Glass Bottles and Jars (separated by color)    - Clear    - Brown    - Green and Blue Plastic (#1 - #7 identified containers), NO liquids or food debris    - bottles, jugs, jars, tubs (NO loose lids or caps)          = Food containers (rinse, discard loose lids)          = Frozen dinner trays (rinse)          = Bottles, jars and jugs (rinse, do not flatten, leave cap on or discard)           = Yogurt and butter containers (rinse, leave lid on or discard)    - buckets (without metal handles)    - NO cups    - NO flower potsPaper (separated by type)    - Cardboard - Corrugated cardboard and paperboard (cereal, pizza boxes, shoe boxes, etc)    - Newspaper & Magazine          = envelopes (non-padded)          = junk mail          = Magazines          = Newspaper and inserts          = Paper          = Phone books          = Soft-bound books (remove hard-bound book covers)          = Wrapping paper    - Office Paper (bills
