Despite the introduction of gender discrimination and equal legislation, the majority of women still receive lower salaries and lower status. According to the latest official figures (March 2013) the gender pay gap in Cyprus is 16,4%  (European Commission, 2013). Moreover, women face the so-called glass ceiling effect “the unseen, yet unbreachable barrier that keeps minorities and women from rising to the upper rungs of the corporate ladder, regardless of their qualifications or achievements” (Federal Glass Ceiling Commission, 1995, p. 4).  Thus, in order to develop a modern manifesto for fragmenting this glass ceiling, we endeavor into a webpage that will bring together good practices, successful stories and practical advice on how women can deal with these barriers. Our aim is to eliminate the stereotypical woman profile as excluded from economic, political, and professional life (Fenton, 2000; Burton & Pollack, 2002; UNESCO, 2003) and promote women’s empowerment, equality and social coherence.
