At the Exova fire testing lab in Melbourne, Australia, 70 building officials witnessed what happens when you subject a fire feature to a realistic test. Many in the industry would adhere to the theory that a solid-core door was equal to a 30 minute fire door. The reality of the situation was that, when a 30 minute fire door and a solid-core were tested together, it showed without a shadow of doubt that fully tested doors stood up to what they were designed to do: the solid-core door only lasted six minutes.
