The shoes you wear say a lot about who you are. Marty McFly’s shoes say, “I’m a time jumping adventurer with style that’s literally ahead of my time.” You used to have to borrow a DeLorean time machine from Doc Brown just to get a pair, since they’re only available to the alternate reality 2015 seen in the movies, but we pulled a few strings. (We may, or may not own a time machine ourselves after pulling said strings).

Anyways, to make a long story short, we have them available now, and they have all the features and flair you’d expect from future shoes. You can use them while you foil Biff’s evil plans, or just while you head to Café 80’s for lunch! Back to the Future is a trademark and copyright of Universal Studios and U-Drive Joint Venture. Looking for the most comfortable ballet flats for travel? We’ve got a round up of the best ballet flats to wear at home and abroad. Keep reading to find out our top picks (and bookmark this page for an updated list every season)! Before I became a long-term traveler, I held jobs that required me to spend long hours standing up without a break. Likewise, one of the best ways to experience the world is on foot. When traveling, you spend hours sightseeing, walking around, and trekking.

But there is one major dilemma for female travelers: From my experience, the key to comfort is all in the padding. The most comfortable ballet flats I owned were from Steve Madden and had absolutely no sole but did have a nice layer of padding. Despite the fact that they were super flat, making the trek up and down the convention center for work was surprisingly a breeze! Having experienced the ultimate in comfort, I decided these were the best ballet flats and went and bought two more pairs at just $50 each. Unfortunately, these shoes are no longer available but there are a a variety of others that are similar. Since choosing travel shoes is one of the most difficult aspects of packing, I shopped around and also asked other travelers what they thought were the most comfortable ballet flats. Most of them are under $100 so they’re budget friendly, too! Check out these cute and comfortable flats for walking at home and abroad: Yosi Samra Samara Ballet Flat

Yosi Samra has the original foldable ballet flats and for under $100! The brand offers a variety of colors, textures, and prints, but we always opt for a stylish neutral like a classic snakeskin pattern. Pretty, soft, and compact! This fashionable brand gets our top vote for best overall value! Tory Burch Minnie Travel Ballet Flat For a higher-end option, Tory Burch released her own collection of foldable travel flats and female travelers jumped for joy! These shoes have received nothing but praise and many believe that they’re the best ballet flats they own. Choose from twelve vibrant colors at Nordstrom. Cole Haan Jenni II Ballet Flat Cole Haan is known for their insanely comfortable shoes. From boots to these featherweight oxford-style sneakers and flats to these cozy ultralight loafers, this designer brand understands comfort, as is proven by their past partnerships with athletes and athletic footwear companies like Nike. For travelers looking to invest in a pair of quality shoes they can wear in the office and on the go, Cole Haan is the brand to consider.

Tip: If you loved the old Cole Haan Nike Air technology shoes, check out their Grand.OS Collection! When traversing the beautiful cobblestone streets abroad, you need sturdy shoes that won’t slip or bend with every step. Look for travel flats with a firm rubber grip like the ridges found on Josef Seibel’s Pippa. Leopard print, like a snakeskin pattern, is a fabulously stylish neutral color to breathe life into any basic travel wardrobe. If the majority of the travel clothing you own is a classic black or khaki, have a little fun with a leopard print like the one featured in Lucky Brand’s popular Emmie 2 ballet flat. Merrell Mimix Bond Ballet Flat Merrell gets top marks as a reliable and comfortable traditional travel shoe brand. With a firm, secure rubber sole and “Remember Me Foam” footbed, Merrell introduces the benefits of a comfort shoe into a timeless ballet flat. Some women swear by Crocs while others refuse to be seen wearing them! Crocs has made some major design changes since their original comfort shoe was released, making them a solid option.

In particular, the Adrina style shown above has been incredibly well received by female travelers. In fact, one jetsetter claims that it’s the best travel shoe for Europe: find out why! Hush Puppies Chaste Ballet Flat Hush Puppies trademarked casual comfortable shoes and now they’ve infused their traditional footwear features into this classic ballet flat. The above textured blush color makes us swoon, but they have over forty colors and prints if you want more options. Clarks Grayson Erica Ballet Flat We can’t have a list featuring comfortable walking flats without including a pair from Clarks. This brand always gets top marks when it comes to comfort. Even though this post is about flats, Clarks surprisingly makes some of the most cute and comfortable wedges ever. There’s a reason French women always look amazing–they have access to effortlessly chic yet practical brands like Arche. Women swear by them, saying that they’re the most comfortable flats on the planet!

Cole Haan Air Monica Ballet Flat Cole Haan makes another appearance on our list of the most comfortable ballet flats and this time with the much-loved Air Monica. Despite an initial break-in period, they have Nike Air technology so you know they rank high for comfort. With select sizes and colors at just $99.99 on Amazon, scoop these up before they disappear! Softwalk is another shoe brand that’s making a mark with their comfortable flats for walking. The style shown above has over thirty colors and prints, all featuring the toe cap design. The Flexx Bon Bon Ballet Flat The Flexx has our attention and we’re carefully watching this brand for their latest releases. So far we’ve seen promising designs with their ballet flats and sandals–they look good and they’re also made for comfort. We’re looking forward to what else they have in store! Fitflop F-Pop Ballerina Leather Flat You may be familiar with FitFlop for their comfortable sandals but now they have flats, too.

Offering more lift than a traditional flat, they also have a well-constructed sole made for hitting the pavement with ease. Cole Haan Tali Bow Ballet Flat Yes, another style by Cole Haan and with good reason. It has a more structured look compared to most comfortable flats, which creates a sleeker, more feminine style. It also offers a supportive rubber sole to help you walk on uneven pavement or cobblestone streets. As a plus, it features the brand’s new Grand.OS footbed technology and has a half inch micro wedge for added lift. This dainty bowed beauty rounds up our list of the most comfortable ballet flats for travel, beautifully combining fashion and function. You can create a soft and comfortable feeling in many shoes by adding your own padding. Whether they’re sneakers, boots, heels, or flats, add a padded insole to massively increase your comfort. Everyone always asks me for the most comfortable shoes to wear in winter, and I always recommend boots.

My secret is to add soft insoles to make boots even more comfortable! Even during long promotional modeling gigs were I was required to wear high heels, I survived with specialty insoles for heels like these. For most other closed shoes I use a style like these. You can also find a large variety of insoles to meet your needs on Amazon. You’ll love these gel arch support insoles! The next time you plan your travel shoes for a trip, don’t forget the easy-to-pack, removable shoe padding.   Hue Women’s 4-pair pack Hidden Cotton Liner Even the most comfortable ballet flats for travel could be improved by simply adding discreet shoe liners like those shown above. You can use them for sneakers, too. The best part is that they’re thin and pack small, so you only need a few on your trip; just hand wash them as you go! Remember, the best ballet flats for travel don’t necessarily have to fold in half to be a good option; they’re flat, after all–they can fit in any slim space!
