Our techniques are based on one hundred plus years of combined woodworking and joinery experience. Our technicians have experience in all phases of fine furniture design, construction, repair to fire and water damaged furniture, and restoration as well as all phases of the finishing process. Upon recieving your heirloom pieces, we scrutinize the furniture to determine the exact course of action we will take. It may need stripping, or not. Maybe it needs reglueing, major or minor repairs, or just conservation. Our first priority on antiques is to preserve their value by completing only the most necessary work. Some pieces, however, require complete restoration in order to be functional again. On pieces in good condition, we conserve, keeping it's original patina, and value. After 10 minutes of browsing through the store and hunting for the perfect sectional couch, Brad came over to offer his assistance. He helped us think through our options (shape, size, color, leather grade) and never rushed us into any decision. He was kind and warm and made us feel like we were the only customers in the store. The store is full of really creative, unique items, and so we ended up taking home a gorgeous coffee table made from the hood of an old Chevy as well. Several weeks ago, I walked into Doerr Furniture needing to furnish an entire townhome. This was going to be a monumental undertaking needed to be accomplished in a short period of time. I was fortunate to be greeted by a lovely lady and in-home design consultant, Sylvia Brooks. We walked the store and she helped come up with furniture options for my bedrooms and living spaces.
Sylvia couldn't have been any more patient and interested in what direction my personal tastes took the furniture selections. I did rely heavily on her recommendations, which were tasteful and wonderful. I had come in with a picture of a beautiful king canopy brass bed that I had seen somewhere recently. I was hoping to find one just like it. Doerr did not have any in their showroom, but as I have now become accustomed, that did not deter Sylvia. She researched further for a week and lo and behold emailed me a picture of a similar bed better than the one I had showed her, and ordered it for me! During the process of making decisions, Sylvia set up a convenient time to come by my townhome and see the space and to take measurements, enhancing her ability to make good design choices for me. A few weeks later, when my children's bedrooms sets came in, I decided that I wanted to add a desk to one room, which created a space issue. Sylvia came by again to consider the space, and then with some help came over after work on a Sunday and reworked the shelving units in the walk in closet to accomodates the chests of drawers, opening up space in the bedroom, enough ample space now to include the desk.
After the rest of the furniture comes in, Sylvia has offered to continue to help me furnish the townhome by aiding in finding window treatments for some of the rooms. I don't believe that I have ever experienced customer service like this in my life. Sylvia has gone above and beyond on this project. She has made this awesome task easier for me.
