Anita White, 51, from Sandiacre, Derbyshire, complained to furniture store Harveys after her£1,500 leather settee sagged and discoloured in less than a year of purchase and was left furious after the furniture giant blamed her 'quite large build' on the reason for its faults

An inspector's report stated that 'both of the customers are quite large build' after being appointed by Harveys to investigate the claims by Mrs White that the sofa was saggingThe grandmother, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, and husband Alan, 61, were so shocked they hired an independent inspector who confirmed the sofa was 'poorly manufactured'.But the furniture giant still refused to offer the couple - who have a combined weight of 31-and-a-half stone - a full refund as the sofa has been discontinued.Mrs White, who worked as a nurse until 2002 when she was diagnosed with MS, said: 'I'm disgusted.'We're not huge and the sofa wasn't even a year old.'I've had three sofas from Harveys in the past but I'll never be using them again.'Mrs White, who has two children and two grandchildren, shelled out £1,594 on two leather sofas which were delivered in September 2014.But just 10 months later the couple noticed one of the seats was sinking on the two-seater, and the three-seater was discolouring.

Mrs White, 51,  who worked as a nurse until 2002 when she was diagnosed with MS, said she was 'disgusted' with the response from Harveys and 'will never order from them again' The furniture giant still refused to offer the couple - who have a combined weight of 31-and-a-half stone - a full refund as the sofa has been discontinued. Pictured: The Whites' 'faulty' sofaShe said: 'I complained in July 2015 about the sagging and discolouration. 'It looked like someone had gone round with a felt tip on it, the pigment was just coming out.'The other sofa felt really funny to sit on and I knew it was sinking.'They weren't even a year old, so I complained to customer services.' Mrs White, 51, has been left 'furious' by the response from Harveys over her weight Harveys sent out an insurance company to inspect the damage and the report was handed to Mrs White - but she was flabbergasted to find it said the damage was their fault. The report read: 'On inspection I found that the left hand facing seat of the two-seater was sitting lower than the right.'This was due to being the most used seat and both of the customers are quite large build.'Mrs White added: 'I was disgusted.

We'd forked out over £1,500 on those sofas.'She and her husband, who took voluntary redundancy last year, then hired an expert who confirmed the damage was due to the sofas being 'poorly manufactured'.Harveys eventually offered the couple a partial refund of £1,000, or store credit for the full price, but as the model had been discontinued, Mrs White refused as it would have left them out of pocket. The only option suitable for the pair - who need a good sofa to ease her disability - cost £2,644.She said: 'They wouldn't give us the money back unless we took money off for wear and tear, which would leave us £500 out of pocket.'When you're retired you can't afford to lose that sort of money.'The couple eventually settled on a replacement because they 'couldn't waste any more money.'Mrs White said: 'I should have been offered a full refund from the start.'We've never had any problems with them before, but we won't be using them again.' Mrs White is waiting for a replacement to be delivered to her home in Sandiacre, Derbyshire
