Or use this as a base to visit the South Downs National Park, visiting the seaside towns of Eastbourne, Hastings and Brighton and the historic Sussex towns of Battle, Lewes, and Arundel, and Tunbridge Wells in Kent. After an exciting and extensive ‘makeover’, Little Marshfoot now sleeps two, although we can accommodate an extra person on the very comfortable sofa bed in the new living room. Together with a very sleek and elegant shower room, a Kitchen/Diner where the raspberry splash-back adds a sparkle to your day, a spacious dining table and a very comfortable living room you can relax and unwind to your heart’s content although there is plenty of space for visiting friends and family.

Plenty of off-road parking. Spring and Summer 2017 Tucked away in the grounds of a former farmhouse overlooking the Pevensey Levels, Little Marshfoot was designed to promote environmental building techniques and standards whilst at the same time achieving high levels of comfort and quality. Offering four star self catering accommodation, the property sleeps two people. Located in farmland on the edge of the Pevensey Levels adjacent to the ancient market town of Hailsham in East Sussex, Little Marshfoot is only 7 miles from Eastbourne, and is also within easy distance of the historic towns of Lewes, Brighton, Hastings, Battle and Royal Tunbridge Wells. Chichester, Arundel, Winchelsea and Rye are also easily accessible. The Sussex Weald is just to the north of Hailsham, where many small traditional villages are to be found, with historic churches and good pubs offering good food. It is the most heavily wooded location in England, so in the spring you will see a range of spring flowers including primroses, bluebells, wood anemones and wild orchids.

The whole area is steeped in history; there are extensive traces of the former iron industry, going right back to Roman times, with place names such as Gun hill and Gunpowder lane, and old forge ponds are to be stumbled upon in the woods. On the coast you will find a number of Martello Towers which were erected to counter any Napoleonic invasion, and of course the majestic South Downs National Park with the Seven Sisters, Beachy Head and the Cuckmere Valley. In spring and early summer you will discover the richest array of wild flowers, including orchids, cowslips, wild thyme, marjoram, scabious and knapweed on the chalk grasslands of the Downs. The Pevensey Levels are a SSSI and designated Ramsar site. The village of Pevensey itself contains the ruins of a Roman fortress, within which the Normans built their castle. Indeed, it was at Pevensey that William of Normandy landed with his army before marching to meet King Harald at Battle (now an attractive and historic town).

And the rest is history! There are trains to London and Brighton twice an hour. Little Marshfoot is ideally located for those interested in Walking, Cycling, and Bird Watching. Guests interested in visiting Gardens or National Trust properties will find plenty to interest them in the area.
