Sia - Everyday Is Christmas (Cover)

[Verse 1]

Don't cry, snowman, not in front of me

While ostensibly a holiday tune, this song can also be read as a prequel to Sia’s “The Girl You Lost To Cocaine,” in which she dubs her addicted former lover “still as a snowman.”
That song is about the process of leaving, but this one is about staying – perhaps with the implication of the narrator also continuing her addiction so she can stay frosty with her “snowman.”

Who'll catch your tears if you can't catch me, darling

If you can't catch me, darling

Don't cry snowman, don't leave me this way

A puddle of water can't hold me close, baby

Can't hold me close, baby

[Chorus]

I want you to know that I'm never leaving

Cause I'm Mrs. Snow, 'til death we'll be freezing

Yeah you are my home, my home for all seasons

So come on let's go

Let's go below zero and hide from the sun

I love you forever where we'll have some fun

Yes, let's hit the North Pole and live happily

Please don't cry no tears now

It's Christmas, baby

[Refrain]

My snowman and me

My snowman and me

Baby

[Verse 2]

Don't cry, snowman, don't you fear the sun

Sun is usually associated with ‘happiness’, ‘good’ etc. To her Snowman however, it is not as friendly. When someone is obviously flawed, society is quick to reject them (aka Snowman) but when it’s too blindfolded by the good labels put on another (the Sun) they don’t want to destroy their illusions. Sun might stand for someone/something that brings her man down. The woman in the song sees things the way they are and tells him there’s nothing to fear an therefore no reason to cry.

Who'll carry me without legs to run, honey

Without legs to run, honey

Don't cry, snowman, don't you shed a tear

Who'll hear my secrets if you don't have ears, baby

If you don't have ears, baby

[Chorus]

I want you to know that I'm never leaving

Cause I'm Mrs. Snow, 'til death we'll be freezing

Since they are married, she is Mrs. Snow and therefore she is holding true to her wedding vows.
is a play on the phrase, “'till death do us part”. However Sia uses the word freezing instead, for in this analogy her and her lover are snowmen and snowmen can only thrive in freezing temperatures.

Yeah you are my home, my home for all seasons

So come on let's go

Let's go below zero and hide from the sun

I love you forever where we'll have some fun

Yes, let's hit the North Pole and live happily

Please don't cry no tears now

It's Christmas, baby

[Refrain]

My snowman and me

My snowman and me
