De Wijngaardstraat, lange tijd het zwarte schaap van het Kortrijkse winkelwandelgebied,beleeft eindelijk een revival. Vrijdag openen liefst drie winkels in de verkeersvrije straat: babyspeciaalzaak Chérubin, schoenwinkel Dedito en sneakershop Num Nut. Drie zaken die op hetzelfde moment in dezelfde straat open gaan, het gebeurt niet elke dag. "De Wijngaardstraat komt uit een diep dal", bevestigt schepen van Lokale Economie Rudolf Schepereel (N-VA). "Tijdens de werken aan shoppingcentrum K was de straat een hele tijd vrijwel onleefbaar." Unizo-voorzitter Leopold Dekeyser treedt hem bij. "Vijf, zes jaar geleden stond de helft van de Wijngaardstraat nog leeg. Gelukkig zijn er zo'n tien sterkhouders in de straat die het hoofd boven water gehouden hebben. Nu komen er opnieuw enkele mooie initiatieven bij. De heropleving van de Wijngaardstraat is eigenlijk het resultaat van het dynamisme die alle handelaars hier samen uitstralen. De ligging is natuurlijk ook een grote troef: de K zorgt nu eenmaal voor heel wat passage.
Er zijn eveneens twee ondergrondse parkeergarages vlakbij waar een uur gratis geparkeerd kan worden." Er ligt nog een grote verandering op de plank. "Momenteel is de CM nog op zoek naar een ontwikkelaar die iets wil ondernemen op de site aan de Wijngaardstraat. Op de plek van café De Gilde en de CM-loketten is liefst 7.000 vierkate meter beschikbaar", zegt Scherpereel. "Op de gelijkvloerse verdieping moet daar zeker een commerciële invulling komen, voor de rest is het voorlopig nog afwachten." Geoffrey Clared (25) plande zijn opening afgelopen weekend al, maar op de valreep besloot hij zijn zaak toch samen te openen met collega's Mathieu en Maxim Clarysse van Chérubin en Marc Boone en Anuka Zamanbyek van schoenwinkel Dedito. Geoffrey, die al drie jaar in de verkoop heeft gewerkt, maakt vanaf vrijdag van zijn passie zijn beroep. "Ik ben gek op schoenen, al altijd geweest", vertelt hij. "Ik heb zelf een 60- tot 70-tal paar schoenen. Mensen willen vaak weten waar ik die gehaald heb, dus ik dacht, ik start gewoon een winkel met dergelijke schoenen."
Momenteel is hij, net als de zaakvoerders van de andere twee winkels, de laatste hand aan het leggen voor de grote opening. "Er komt een tent in de straat waar we klanten iets te eten en te drinken aanbieden, in ruil voor een bonnetje dat ze in een van onze winkels krijgen. Op die manier lokken we hen toch al even binnen in de winkel", vertelt Marc Boone. "Ik heb voor de Wijngaardstraat gekozen omdat de handelaars hier in de straat zich echt inzetten om hun straat beter te maken. Dat er een comité is, dat vind ik een geweldige plus", zegt Geoffrey. "Als straat sta je nu eenmaal sterker in je schoenen dan als handelaar alleen", zegt Marc Boone, die met plezier deel zal uitmaken van dat comité. Dankzij Kortrijk Zaait kregen drie panden een nieuwe bestemming in de Wijngaardstraat. Dat project pakt de leegstand aan en ondersteunt jonge startende ondernemers. Eigenaars worden een jaar vrijgesteld van leegstandsheffing, de huurders krijgen de kans om het pand een jaar erg voordelig te huren als winkel.
Zeven panden vonden dankzij 'Kortrijk Zaait' een nieuwe huurder. "Eigenlijk verwachten we dat het project naar het einde van dit jaar toe op volle toeren zal draaien", zegt schepen Scherpereel. "Op 1 januari hebben we de eigenaars van de panden verwittigd dat ze een jaar de tijd kregen om een invulling te vinden voor hun pand. Is dat niet het geval, dan betalen ze vanaf volgend jaar een leegstandsheffing. Naarmate de deadline nadert, zullen er zich ongetwijfeld nog veel eigenaars aanmelden voor Kortrijk Zaait, omdat ze dan een jaar uitstel krijgen. Normally orders of items in stock ship within 1-2 business days from Order Confirmation and can be expected to be delivered to you within five to ten business days.
