Things are getting a little bit weird here at Channel 4. First of all, a couple of weeks ago Scott Hines, or as we now call him “Scottie Gee,” went to Denver for a “Visionaries In Life” convention. I don’t know what exactly that is, but I do know it’s hosted by these people: Scott was trying to earn a spot as a speaker and left this inspirational video. You should watch it. He talks about the difficulties and challenges he’s faced in life and how he’s overcome them with a message of hope, positivity and kindness. The inspirational video reminds you that Scott Hines is a great dude, and shows why everyone here at KFOR is proud to call him a friend. You may think I’m saying that just because I like Scott’s no-bakes, but trust me, it’s the truth. In addition to Scott Hines now wearing white sneakers to work everyday, Mike Morgan and Reed Timmer have also been conducting top-secret experiments on a project in the Bob Moore Chopper 4 hanger. Code named “Domiflexor,” it promises to “Change the way extreme weather is forecasted.”

Details about the project have been murky. Mike Morgan claims it’s a simple tool to help stormchasers track supercell rumblers, but according to an internal investigation by Abby Broyles, it could also be a North Korean-backed experiment that will give Mike the supernatural power to control and predict the weather. Whatever it is, the National Weather Service isn’t happy. They have already spoken out against the project, stating “Oklahoma’s weather should belong to Gary England and the Gods.” Emily Sutton is even keeping a safe distance. Despite Reed Timmer’s advances, she won’t go anywhere near the hangar. She’s even placed a fall wreath on the front of her She-Shed with the phrase “Conscientious Objector” dangling across it on a string with shiny orange letters. With rumors about Domiflexor running rampant, and Mike on one of his mysterious “vacations,” imagine my surprise to see this KFOR report about a mysterious light hovering over the Oklahoma sky.

Yep, there you have it. The mysterious light is just a simple high altitude weather balloon floating high in the air. Also, the puffy white clouds you see billowing from airplane engines are crystalized water vapor. Nothing else to see here. Take the blue pill and move along with your day. Seriously, what a joke. I might be endangering my position here at KFOR by stating the obvious, but this report has all the makings of a classic diversion and cover up conspiracy. First of all, Mike has been mysteriously absent from the weather center for the past few days. The last time I spotted him, he was driving a black, unmarked semi out of the KFOR parking lot on Friday. For some reason, Gaylon Culver was in the passenger seat. As he pulled onto Britton Rd., I ran along the truck and made the universal hand symbol to blow the air horn. Instead of playing along, he and Gaylon both just flipped me off. At the time, I figured they were mad that I ate the last no-bake that Scott brought to work that day, but maybe something else was going on.

Also, don’t you like how Mike had Mr. Nice Guy Aaron Brackett file the report? That had to be intentional. Sure, Aaron may look all like he’s attained every Boy Scout merit badge twice, but what you may not know is that he’s one of Mike’s most loyal and trusted minions. In fact, Aaron is now second-in-command of Mike’s toy train collection. It’s why we call him “The Conductor.” In a very legal sense, I’m not accusing Mike of doing anything illegal or wrong. Perhaps it’s just a coincidence that he was out-of-town probably testing the Domiflexor when this mysterious “Weather Balloon” flew high over Oklahoma. Maybe Domiflexor is the name of his new bedazzled tie line, and all the rumors that we’ve been hearing about a weather machine that can control the jet stream and dry line, thus giving its operator unprecedented power during next May’s sweeps, are false. Maybe this entire post is made up satirical drivel! I have no clue what’s going on here, but just like a humid May afternoon with a dancing dry line and weakened cap, I’d suggest we all stay aware.

User ReviewedHow to Dunk Three Parts:Dunking PracticeBuilding Your JumpLearning Highlight-Reel DunksCommunity Q&A From Jordan to Lebron, even Yao Ming, nothing elicits more awe and applause than a dunk. As one of the highest percentage field goals one can attempt in basketball, this is a move that's worth mastering. While it doesn't hurt to be taller, you can build up both the muscles and skills required to execute this famous feat on the court, regardless of your height and experience. See Step 1 for more information. Dribble toward the basket. Take the allowed two steps while palming the ball in your dunking hand and controlling your approach. Leap from your plant foot, opposite your shooting hand, extend your arm to the rim, and drive the ball through the net.The two-handed slam is maybe the most dominating move in basketball, but it takes a lot more leap to touch the rim with two hands. You can build up to it. Use a smaller ball. It's much easier, when you're first starting out, to try dunking with a smaller ball.

You'll be able to palm it more easily and control your approach, making the maneuver more satisfying and your practice closer to the real thing. Continue dribbling and shooting exercises with the appropriate-sized ball so you're not getting too used to the "wrong" size, but keep a small ball around for your sick dunks. Work on your ball handling. Get a feel for how to use inertia to control the ball when your arm is extended. Even people who can palm a basketball sometimes lose their grip when dunking, so you need to get a feel for maneuvering the ball and controlling it in the air. Practice running at the rim and slamming the ball against it. Even if you're not "dunking," you're still practicing your approach and holding the ball correctly as you leap toward the hoop. You can try a tennis ball or golf ball first, then a volleyball, and work your way up to a basketball. It's common to focus all your energy on getting the rock in the hole and end up falling on your butt, which hurts.

It happens, even to the pros, but spend some time completing the follow-through and focusing on completing the entire sequence of moves, landing safely, and you'll dunk more accurately and more consistently. Visualize the successful dunk and immediately focus on your landing. Try to land on both feet, cushioning your legs and flexing into the landing. Watch out for other players. Don't hang on the rim. In most games, hanging on the rim isn't allowed unless you're in danger of landing on someone below you, but hanging on the rim can damage the hoop, and also throw you off balance, pulling your legs out from under you so you fall backwards. So don't try to grab the rim after you've slammed the ball, just dunk it and drop. Practice dunking on a shorter rim. Invest in a good pair of shoes. Increase your vertical leap. You will need the lifting power of your legs to get you in the air and up to the basket. Building a regimen of leg workouts that will increase the fast-twitch strength and and the flexibility of your leg muscles can help you add inches to your vertical leap, getting you that much closer to the rim.

[2] A good regimen to get started with might include: 2 or 3 sets of squats and lunges 3-5 sets of 60 second wall sitsPlyometrics are exercises that use the resistance of your own body to build strength and are essential for building the kind of strength necessary to build your jump. It takes time to train your body to jump higher, but working the right muscle groups can improve your explosiveness and height without maxing out regularly in the weight room. Muscle groups that need to be stronger: Quadriceps, hamstrings, gluteals, calves. The quadriceps extend the knee, while the hamstrings and gluteals extend the hip. The calves flex the ankle, giving you that initial hop. Work on your flexibility. Just building strength in your legs won't do it. The muscles also need to be loose and flexible, giving you the movement and response you'll need to dunk over the defense. Develop your flexibility by regularly stretching, doing elastic resistance exercises, and giving yoga a shot.

Muscle groups that need flexibility: Hamstrings and hip flexors. Tight hamstrings will impede the knee extension during the jump. Hip flexors resist the hip extension part of the jump. Practice jumping at the court. Learn the two-handed slam. Shaquille O'Neal was known for double-handing the ball into the goal so forcefully, the backboard would shatter. While rim technology makes that not particularly possible any more, it's still a powerful and demoralizing dunk to pull off. You need a really high vertical to pull of a two-handed dunk. Practice standing under the rim and jumping straight up until you can touch your wrists to the rim. Add some flair with a double-pump. Turn on the windmill. Go between the legs. You may not be able to make yourself grow taller, though that shouldn't stop you from dunking. Nate Robinson is 5'9" and he won 3 dunk contests. However, you can check out this article: How to Grow Taller. Show more unanswered questions

For most people who are not 6'6" like the NBA stars we envy, do a video search for short people dunking. This proves that people under 6 feet (1.8 m) can still pull off a strong dunk. A good suggestion is Spud Webb, or Nate Robinson, the 2006 and 2009 Slam Dunk Competition Champion. If you feel the need to drool in envy, that is normal. If you are the same height/weight as Shaq watch out when doing demoralizing dunks on your opponents; it is possible you will shatter the backboard, raining shards of razor sharp glass down on the faces of your defeated opponents. For people who have trouble jumping off one foot, try this: as you approach the basket, lower your body and arms so that your center of gravity is low. Then, explode toward the basket and swing your arms up. This could improve your one-footed jumping ability by several inches. Make sure the rim is securely attached to the backboard or it may come loose. This could result in serious injury. Consume high amounts of calcium and protein, but maintain your balanced diet.

This helps with muscle growth and promotes healthy bone as well. If you're overweight, improving your vertical leap can only do so much. You might need to lose weight while you gain muscle. If you know you can jump high enough to dunk, try a smaller ball that you can palm and jump sooner on the run than you think you should. By backing up, you can increase your glide vertically. Once you have your jump down, change to a regulation ball. For beginners, dunking a tennis ball one-handed is a good workout if done repeatedly. To jump higher you need to know it's not only about the shoes. To unlock the privilege of dunking, you must first train. Regular squats with weights, jump squats and wall sits will soon build muscular legs. Watch some of the dominant dunkers of the past or present, such as Nate Robinson, Michael Jordan, Derrick Rose, Kobe Bryant, Dwight Howard, Vince Carter, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Blake Griffin, and Shaquille O'Neal. Make sure that you have someone else near you when you are learning.
