As it appears fairly thin I was concerned it would rip if the mattress was dragged along the floor but, with careful handling, it survived.We found it covered the length adequately, though the width was a fair bit wider than a standard single so lots of tape was needed.UPDATE - August 2013I've moved house again! In my previous move I used this brand of cover for both my single and king size mattress and although the single was fine the king size one ripped during the move (see that review). As another brand of cover is now for sale on Amazon I tried that for both single & king-size and they are much stronger than this version.
