These goods included six single beds with mattresses, a hair clipper, one microwave, one seven-piece dinette set and one writing desk.
Shelly and Chris Bhagwandin of Rani’s Fashion collaborated with the UWSC in contributing bed sheet sets and towels. The goods will be used to help furnish the Phase 111 building of Cheshire Homes that were completed in 2011, the release said.In handing over the goods to the administrator, Patricia Bailey at the Cheshire Home, UWSC President Anya Persaud said: “These residents have a right to and deserve adequate care and special attention. Their needs are unique and they are dependent on the excellent staff, nurses and caregivers at the Cheshire Homes to meet these needs…”.Cheshire Homes has been working towards creating the Phase 111 project since 2006. The Home currently provides care for 26 residents (13 males, 13 females) ranging in age from 17-47 years old and most of them are profoundly disabled but the new facility will offer home-like living conditions for some of the residents who can live with greater independence.UWSC said further that its mandate is to help children with special needs to meet their highest potential by assisting with needed resources – educational, re-creational, hearing impaired, life training or welfare assistance.
