Sincerity
fotestbatherI may stumble and fall when the ice hides as it does under the snow. But in doing so I collect and bring such interesting and diverse words to my offering in my haibun.
A haiku or tanka needs sincerity, otherwise the reader (who also needs sincerity him or herself) quickly perceives the forced nature of the verse.
Sincerity has to be found: it is not by sitting in a comfortable chair that it is expressed. Poetry about nature must have a real fragrance of nature. Of course there is only one way to apply that fragrance.
