I bought this to put on my son's bed-it has worked well for him. It made a firmer mattress much softer. I prefer a 4 inch topper myself to really do the job well-but it would make the height of the mattress and pad too high for my son to get on the bed . This is ample for him. It did take a week to air out the smell from the topper but it did dissipate and it doesnt smell anymore. Nice.....works like the expensive ones.... This is a great topper and especially for the price! I highly recommend it! Finally I found a real memory foam topper! This topper is real memory foam, not the egg crate cheap material. Our last "memory foam" topper we purchased here was not memory foam at all, so we were very happy when this one arrived. It is supportive, since it is only 2 inches thick. You dont sink down to the mattress, which is a good thing. We also purchased a 2" feather topper that we placed on top of the foam and its heaven! That being said, this is not a real 4 pound density topper.
density is the weight per sq ft. The shipping weight of the box was 28 lbs for a king size topper. A king bed is over 40 sq ft. A real 4 lb topper for our bed would weigh over 100 lbs. Considering those numbers, a real 4lb topper must be hard as a rock. Regardless, we are completely happy with this real memory foam topper and would recommend to others. The is Best Buy yet, very comfortable. Best sleep I've had in months After sleeping on a memory foam topper while on vacation, I knew it would help me at home with my tossing and turning all night. My bed is very firm, no pillowtop, and I've been using a feather bed for years. This Serta memory form topper arrived this week and I've slept on it for 4 nights now and could not be happier. It provides amazing support while also offering cushion to all the right places. And what a great price! This topper made a too-firm mattress usable again. It is soft, but you do not sink down into it completely. Did not experience the out-of-the box smell some mention, but I did air it out for 24 hours prior to use.
Overall, a great purchase for the price. I can't say enough terrific things about this. My king size mattress isn't that old but wasn't as comfortable as I'd like so I decided to add this to it to see if I would get a more comfortable sleep. This has more than exceeded my expectations. I sleep like a baby. It's the most soft yet firm topper. Comes out of the box looking like a taco but within two hours it settles down and takes shape. I was a little nervous at first when I saw what it looked like but I'm glad I waited. It's in my wish list for when and if I need another one.
