So this chair's frame is solid, no cracks, some small dents, and towards the bottom of the legs is turning gray. The rubber cushion straps are missing.

Only had two endings broken attached. The previous owner just slapped a dirty old plywood on top to sit on (nasty). The fabric is falling apart, you can see in the fabric closeup. I need some feedback from you on wether I should take it to someone or if I should fix this myself. I did some research on some cleaning / oil products but I don't know if this is teak or walnut? I'm willing to pay some bucks so: A) If I were to do this, any product/brand preference? B) If I were to take it to someone I don't want to take this to the wrong person so if you know someone in the SF bay area (peninsula) let me know or do you think any upholstery could fix this? C) Is there a place that sales the replacement Straps for the seat? Any other way to fix it other than an ugly plywood? D) What about the fabric? Thanks i advance for your feedback, Originally posted at 12:00AM, 9 September 2008 PST Javier Garcia Design edited this topic 103 months ago. Here's a few answers for you...

You can find the replacement webbing here: Up to you regarding dry cleaning v. new fabric - I can't really tell the condition from the photos. Having the loose cushions reupholstered should not be expensive as long as you provide the fabric (this is where the huge mark up is). As far as wood oil goes, I love me some orange oil and it's what my MCM dealers usually suggest - but to be safe , just test a small portion on the underside of the chair or a place where the cushion can cover it should the oil darken the finish too much. Thanks so much for the link!. It's of great help. I might replace the fabric, I just don't know if I can find a cool one like the one it has?. Originally posted 103 months ago. It looks to be walnut, which is what the ones I have are. Also, when I cleaned mine up, the finish appeared to be an oil, like tung oil. Very satin finish, not shiny. Uphostery on your appears to be original. sounds like you've already solved the strap issue, but i recently bought two of the exact same chairs with all the straps missing.

10 bucks per strap seemed like a lot at first, but they are from the original maker and are already assembled with the 45 degree angle clips. shipping was incredibly quick as well.
