Lightest, warmest, and most compact mat for extreme four-season capabilities The thick cushion of air provides comfort and smooths out uneven ground. And as down compresses extremely well, Downmats packs smaller than other insulated mats. 700-fill, Nocar-treated (non-toxic treatment which helps to stop down from clumping and prevents mould forming) goose down insulation Low profile valves (one for inflation, the other for deflation) are not on the mat's edge and don't stick out and are therefore protected and durable Laminated, polyester fabric is UV and abrasion resistant, slip resistant, air tight and humidity resistantHigh-frequency welded seam constructionBaffled chambers eliminate cold spots and create a comfortable, supportive and stable air cushion Unique integrated pump for rapid intuitive inflation Customise fit to suit your body (see technologies tab)2 loops at the head end allows the packsack to be attached as a pillow Stuff sack and field repair kit (fabric patches, glue and repair manual) and users manual included

Two flat valves, one for inflation and one for deflation are found in the mat. One-way flaps on the valves hinder air from escaping during inflation, as 'self inflating mats' usually need a couple of breaths of air for top-up, and prevent air from re-entering during deflation and roll-up. Being flat in design, non protruding, of soft PU and without sharp edges makes these valves more durable than traditional ones.100% airtight: each individual mat is tested for 72 hours prior to leaving the factory! The mats withstand 5x the pressure usually generated during inflation, which means they bear the weight of a car without bursting.

The mat should be kept away from thorns, heat sources, fire sparks and general abuse. There is a compromise between low weight and durability. But this can be compensated by care.Customise fit to your body ergonomics and sleeping behaviour with the FlatValve technology of the Exped mats: once the mat has been inflated completely and you are lying on it, pressure can be released by pressing on the one-way flap of the open Inflation valve. Release air through short bursts until you find the ideal softness of the mat for your sleeping position. This way sleeping outdoors will be a positive experience for users with back problems or the more mature of us, as countless messages sent to Exped confirm. Keep your mat away from thorns, heat sources, fire sparks and general abuse. But this can be compensated by care. Tips on inflating Exped mats with integrated pumps:Deflating the Mat: Questions on Exped DownMat 7 Sleeping Mat Would the Exped down matt be a good one for use on a motorcycle?

Also what powers the pump? Is it manual or electric? How rugged are these matts as far as punctures go? The DownMat pump with wide valves is an excellent light weight durable mat for all condition uses, it is very warm as having down insulation in it. It packs down nice and small it has a inbuilt manual pump. In regards to punctures it is durable but I would suggest that you check the area before putting it down and using it as you would with all inflatable mats.
