Welcome to Emmaus Gloucestershire We offer a home and work for 32 people who have experienced homelessness, providing the support and stability they need to move on with their lives. Our first shop was established 20 years ago and our community got going over 10 years ago.Emmaus Gloucestershire has five charity shops - two in Nailsworth, one in Stroud, one in Cheltenham, and a Superstore in Gloucester. We collect and sell donated goods, using the funds generated to sustain our community and other charitable work for those in greater need than ourselves. We have five shops in Gloucestershire, each selling a range of quality second-hand items, from bric-a-brac to furniture. It has a store at West Street, Old Market, selling pre-loved furniture and electricals, with a free car park at the rear.
There's also a large warehouse at Silverthorne Lane, St Phillip's. The stores are open six days a week and there's an eBay shop. .uk Another social enterprise, this time helping people who are recovering from addiction, The Compass Project has two stores, one on Broad Street, Staple Hill (open seven days) selling furniture and the other at Gloucester Road, which sells clothes, books and other items alongside furniture. This store is open Monday to Saturday. .uk Operating from a warehouse at Bristol Vale Industrial Estate, Hartcliffe Way, Bedminster, this charitable store aims to give both people and furniture a second chance. It's open daily except for Thursday. British Heart Foundation Furniture and Electricals Cheap and cheerful charity shop selling donated items from the store in East Street, Bedminster. It's full of vintage and antique items - and the website is beautifully dark and moody. An Aladdin's Cave, this shop on Gloucester Road, Bishopston, is full of upcycled, quirky, trendy treasures - perfectly reflecting the people of the neighbourhood. Check out the Instagram page for a peek at stock. House clearance specialist Hodgsons, on Stapleton Road, Easton, has been running since 1918. Visit the shop or buy online via the website. On Cheltenham Road, Stokes Croft, there's no website, so you'll just have to pay a visit. There's a car wash and cafe too, and it's packed at weekends. Open Wednesday to Monday. No website or Facebook page, no phone, and no cards accepted either. It's old school cash ony here. Promise it's well worth the visit to BS37. Estalished four decades ago, The Attic is a house clearance specialist based at North Street, Downend. Open Tuesday to Saturday. Based at Dragon Road, Winterbourne, but with a comprehensive website, Roger sells new and refurbished items for every room in the home. Furniture Recycling Project (FRP) helps create a better community through the reuse of furniture, electrical and household items.For donations or enquiries please contact our shops:Gloucester (01452 302303)Cheltenham (01242 220296)Tewkesbury (01684 292745) Forest Upcycling Project trains and works with unemployed people in the Forest of Dean and can collect unwanted furniture and electrical items free of charge. The items are then made available to disadvantaged groups. Gloucestershire Bike Project is a not for profit social enterprise. They have a continually changing stock of adults and children's bikes, which once refurbished, are offered for sale at their Barton Street workshop. IT Schools for Africa is a registered charity that collects old computer equipment and distributes it free to schools in Africa. Reclaim, based in Cheltenham, is Vision 21's furniture re-use project, which redistributes good quality second hand furniture, household items, bikes and paint at a reasonable price to the public.
It also offers voluntary placements and support for up to 15 vulnerable adults. Free collections are offered locally. Stroud District Furniture Bank helps residents recycle their unwanted furniture, appliances and bric-a-brac by providing a free removal service. Items are then offered to families and individuals in need at affordable prices. Our Household Recycling Centres also accept items for reuse, as well as recycling. Every site also collects bikes for the Gloucestershire Bike Project. Please ask a member of site staff for more details.
