One sided mattresses are not meant to be flipped, as they are built from the ground up in a certain way that is not symmetrical. Although this style of mattress is becoming the standard, many still prefer the freedom of the double sided mattress which can be flipped to provide a fresh surface. Many are used to this style from their old or current mattress, and won't like not being able to do that with a one sided mattress. Few companies still manufacture double sided mattresses, but we carry a good selection from the companies that do, and offer them at the best prices available anywhere. Why do we think our customer’s Mom’s advice was so great? Because all of the aforementioned companies only make one-sided, Can’t Flip Mattresses for the general public! They do, however, make two-sided mattresses for the hotel/motel industry (the buyers for whom WON’T buy one-sided models because they just don’t last). Many smaller, ‘second tier’ mattress companies have followed suit, making and selling only one-sided mattresses to the general public. One-sided mattresses are about 25% cheaper to produce, yet manufacturers can wholesale them to the dealers and retailers for the same price they did a two-sided mattress. That means more money in their pockets, and more money over time from customers. One-sided mattresses don’t last as long as two-sided models, which means consumers (YOU) will be replacing their mattress sooner. Flippable mattresses last up to 3 times as long as ‘can’t flip’ ones. It’s simply untrue that 2-sided mattresses are no longer being made. Dual-System beds can use both K-Series and P-Series. The differences are shown below. The choice of bed rails determine the choice of footboards & accessories. Some of our beds are being changed to Dual-System. Dual System Headboards • Works with both K-Series and P-Series Rails • New “Dual System Headboards” We are in the process of changing many of our headboards to be both “K Series” and “P Series” capable. The headboards will have both sets of holes for using either way. The new headboards will be marked “Dual System Headboard” on the boxes. This process will take time for all sizes and finishes to be available and will be gradual, as the new versions come in and the old version get depleted.
We are telling you now so that you can be aware of what the “Dual System Headboard” terminology means when you see it on the box or in our catalog. The list of headboards that will be switched to the new “Dual System” are listed below. Of course, you will need to order the correct rails and footboards depending on whether the customer wants “K” or “P” Series. The new “K Series” height allows for the use of the bigger bunk bed drawers and/or trundle and “K Series” footboards already have the privacy panel built in.
