We have a little obsession with running shoes, one might say. If you are coming in for a complete fitting, plan to spend about 20-30 minutes with us. You don't need an appointment, and all of our staff are well trained to take you through a fitting. We'll take a few measurements on each foot while you are sitting and standing to examine your foot's flexibility. We'll also analyze your gait and watch you walking barefoot. Once we've selected a pair or two for you to start with, we'll check the fit and function of the shoe compared to your foot. Depending on your activity of choice, we'll watch you take a few strides in the shoes either walking or jogging. If you have custom orthotics, it's not a bad idea to bring them in with you. It's not 100% necessary, but it will give us a better idea of how the shoes will work in relation to the orthotics.
It's also a good idea to bring your favorite pair of socks along for the fitting. There are a couple of things to think about when you come in for a fitting: We'll ask you a few questions about injuries and discomfort you may be having with your current shoes or just in general. Don't hold back, all instances of pain are relevant even if they happen when you aren't running. We'll watch you walk in the store barefoot, and with the shoes you'll be trying on. It may feel a bit like you are a model on the catwalk, but don't worry everyone does it. It's a great idea to try on shoes after a workout or a long day on your feet. This will give you a good idea of how the shoes will feel after a long day. Your feet should be comfortable in your new shoes after a bit of running, walking, or work...so even if you are a little sweaty, don't worry about coming in for a fitting.We'll get right to it when fitting you for shoes. We'll measure your feet with the brannock device, tie your shoes, and make sure everything fits just right.
