Bed: Sultan Erfjord mattress & Sultan Tolg Pillowtop with Sultan Aram foundation with Sultan legs Retail Price: $1,268 for the whole set in full Our second month of bed testing was very different than the first, as we slept on a much more affordable, much firmer natural latex mattress to which we added a pillowtopper at the end. Nutshell review: I love the overall Swedish design of this bed, but really didn't sleep well until we added the topper, and then it was okay for us. It was too firm with very little "give" to the latex (the Erfjord only comes in Firm). Only if you like firm beds will you be happy here. • Fair (very firm) The big issue here is the firmness of the Erjford, which is due to its use of natural latex. This latex is more ecological in that it is naturally harvested, BUT it is quite firm, with very little give and a "hot" sleep experience. In terms of feeling, you experience sleeping "on" as opposed to "in" this bed. Adding the topper for another $200+ dollars was therefore essential for us and saved our month, though we were glad to switch beds this past weekend.

We are decidedly not firm mattress people anymore. Aside from this particular mattress, I give IKEA a ton of credit for a great bed design with largely natural materials that closely resembles the high-end Hastens. This bed shows IKEA's strong commitment to going green. The foundation is heavy and durably made from solid pine and spruce, and it has terrific wooden legs that attach directly to the foundation, removing the need for an additional frame of any kind. The mattress and topper are also heavy with good quality materials. The mattress is 85% natural latex, surrounded by 100% lamb's wool and 100% eco grown cotton. The topper is a mixture of natural latex filling, polylactide (PLA) fiber and 100% lamb's-wool wadding, which combines to greatly soften and cool the sleeping experience. While I have a healthy skepticism for IKEA's products that are not meant to last long and contribute to Throwawayism, this bed is not one of them for me. If you like this bed, it should last you a very long time.

IKEA always does a good job on price and the Erfjord is no exception. Getting a complete, eco bed with natural latex for this price is hard to beat. While all the pieces DO add up, most beds with natural latex will run you four times as much as this one.Our editorial staff evaluates products and services independently, but Top Ten Reviews may earn money when you click on links. While Ikea may be best known for its inexpensive home furnishings, the retail giant also offers a large selection of mattresses, including the Sultan Havberg. The Havberg is a basic spring mattress that largely appeals to budget-conscious shoppers.IKEA Mattress Review: When is Cheap too Cheap?I bought this mattress about two years ago and recently moved house. During the move the mattress was rolled up by the removal men and then put on the bed up the other way at the new house. Since this time I have found the mattress very lumpy and I am unable to reverse the mattress due to its weight. My questions are has the mattress been spoilt in the move or alternatively should it have been kept the same way up?

asked on Feb 24, 2014that mattress is not reversible. It only has memory foam on one side. replied on Feb 25, 2014Unfortunately, I don't knowtablet the lumps. I have never had mine rolled like that. Maybe you can contact the manufacturer about that. I go turn mine every few weeks. I don't flip it over, just rotate it in a circle on the same side. It is heavy but I'm able to maneuver it this way, a little bit at a time. Hope this helps, good luck. hi, like rachey already said, memory foam is only on one side and don't roll it, ikea warns that the matress can take damake if she gets rolled replied on May 07, 2014 I just bought this ikea mattress and in the manual it said it takes 72 hours to fully expand so I have let it sit for over 72 hours and the mattress still looks some what soggy and deflated and overll uncomfortable. asked on Sep 05, 2013 I have not experienced this. I bought mine at the end of May and I'm very happy with it. Does it say anything about the temperature in the room?

I can't remember but I think in general that could be a factor with memory foam. replied on Sep 13, 2013 when it is very hot in a room the memory foam is more soft, i did not recognized any difference in the first days, only those strange smell We bought this for our teenage daughter, who reports a briliantly comfy sleep, but the chemical smell seems to be getting stronger, not going away! Is the smell normal, or even safe??? asked on Aug 10, 2013 Many people reported about the smell. I think the chemical smell is perhaps not healthy. I don't had this problem, i smelled after one day nothing any more. But I am quite sure that the smell will go away after some days, if not report that to IKEA. replied on Aug 12, 2013 Ikea Customer Services would not comment on the health risks, if any, from the strong smell (not suprising, it would be admitting faulty product) - not very helpful at all, suggested I leave it in the sun 'for a while', not easy to do in rainy weather, and when you are using it every night!

So they more or less said I could take it back for a credit. replied on Aug 16, 2013 Follow up: Ikea Customer Services contacted me again regarding the mattress smell - apparently due to Customs fumigation, and that it should be safe. In the meantime, we are airing the mattress everyday and the odour seems stronger some days than others. OVerall is it going away? Maybe... or we're just getting used to the smell and not noticing it as much! Almost 1 month old now. replied on Aug 20, 2013 See all 5 answersMattress Missteps: Is Ikea the Answer? November 2, 2014   Subscribe Over the past year, my girlfriend and I have suffered through a series of mattress missteps to the tune of about $2500. Yesterday we were in Ikea and tried out the Sultan Heggedal mattress, which is $999 for a king. We were impressed both with the comfort and price of this mattress, but are trying to do some additional research so we don’t make the same mistake again.Product Review: Ikea Memory Foam Mattress

When my husband and I decided that we needed a new mattress, a memory foam mattress was the obvious choice. Due to my Fibromyalgia, I can always feel the springs, even on a very good mattress, and although I need a soft mattress for my tender pressure points, I also need good support. Hubby lies on his back or front, whereas I lie on my side, so a memory foam mattress would hopefull solve all these problems in one mattress. Unfortunately, when we looked at the memory foam mattresses on the market we were shocked at how expensive they were. With those prices, we would have been seriously stretching our budget in purchasing even the cheapest (and far from best) of the memory foam mattresses available in stores or on the internet. Luckily, I saw that in the Ikea catalogue, memory foam mattresses started at just £90 (US$149)! In the UK, Ikea has two types of memory foam mattress: the Sultan FORESTAD (ranging in price from £90 to £140) and the Sultan FURUDAL (ranging in price from £160 to £210).

We chose a king-size FURUDAL as this was the top of the range of memory foam mattresses available in Ikea UK. For some reason the FURUDAL doesn’t seem to be available in the US or Canada, but the FORESTAD is (ranging in price from US$149 to US$299). The FURUDAL is a thick foam mattress in 3 layers, with each layer divided into 5 comfort zones, which support your body where it is lightest and relieves pressure where it is heaviest. The top layer is of memory foam which forms itself to your body and the bottom and middle layers of high resilience foam, makes the mattress hardwearing and prolongs its life, as well as provides more support. It has a cover of 100% cotton and filling of lamb’s wool, camel-hair and silk, designed to effectively absorb and transport moisture and maintain an even temperature. The FORESTAD is in 2 layers: a top layer of memory foam and a bottom layer of high resilience foam. The bottom layer only is divided into the 5 comfort zones. The soft quilted top gives a cushiony surface.

My husband and I agree that the mattress is a definite success and we are both sleeping better on it. It took a bit of getting used to because when you first sit or lie on it, it feels very firm. But as the memory foam molds to the contours of your body it becomes amazingly comfortable and even to my sensitive body, never feels uncomfortable. I no longer get pressure points on my hips and shoulders when I lie on my side and my back is always well supported. Since getting the mattress I have had far fewer mornings where I wake up aching all over, which has been wonderful. The cover and filling are also amazing for night sweats – I may wake up with soaking pajamas, but never a soaking bed! I would definitely recommend this mattress to anyone, but if you need a Spoon-worthy mattress on a tight budget, then I don’t know of an alternative! The only problem I’ve found is that I am now completely spoiled for other beds! The Sultan FURUDAL mattress we have cost £210 for a European king-size
