The door locks on a Honda Civic are the same whether they are manually operated or power actuated. They are separate from the outside door handle and are held in with the use of a spring C-type clip. The door lock cylinder has two grooves on the rear part of the cylinder. When the lock is installed through the hole on the outside of the door, the C-clip is pushed with the open end of the C-clip down, through the grooves in the cylinder. The C-clip is tight and retains the cylinder to the door. Remove the screw in the armrest plastic recess and the recess. Remove the screw found below the recess. Remove the screw located in the rear of the master window switch, lift the rear of the switch up and out. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the bottom of the switch. Insert the common screwdriver between the lower rear corner of the door panel and door. The door panel is held on with the use of T-shaped plastic trim fasteners attached to the door panel. The shank of the fastener is pushed into holes in the door.

The door panel is held on by the friction caused by the fasteners in the holes in the door. Slide the screwdriver along the door panel until it contacts one of the fasteners, pry it out with the screwdriver and proceed to the next one. Remove the fasteners on both sides and the bottom of the door panel. Pull the door panel away from the door just enough to reach behind it to disconnect the two rods, which operate the door latch and lock mechanism, from the rear of the inside door handle. The rods have simple plastic clips holding them in the holes in the door handle and door lock rocker. Push the clips aside and lift the rod out of the door handle. Peel the moisture shield back, exposing the inside of the door. Look up at the inside part of the door lock cylinder for a spring C-clip that is pushed down through the grooves in the cylinder, securing it to the door. Detach the rod that runs from the lock cylinder to the latch mechanism. Disconnect the rod at the cylinder by pushing the plastic retaining clip away from the rod and pull the rod out of the lock cylinder.

Pull the C-clip up and out of the lock cylinder using the pliers. Insert the new lock cylinder through the door from the outside and line the keyhole straight up. Push the spring C-clip down from the top of the lock cylinder through the grooves as far as it will go, using the pliers. Push the door lock rod into the lock cylinder and move the plastic retainer toward the rod to lock it in place. Install the rest of the parts in reverse order of removal.
