Ensuring your bed measures up Before buying a bed, some of the key considerations you have to make first revolve around its size. Will it meet your own height requirements? Fit in your bedroom? Will have no problem being carried into your property? This page is dedicated to helping you answer those questions and find the right size bed to suit your tastes, budget and available living space. Bed sizes to choose from Our beds are available in six sizes that you can see in the box below. To help you measure up and understand your available bedroom space, all our beds come with width and length dimensions in feet, inches and centimetres. How big should my bed be? As a general rule, it’s a good idea to choose a bed that’s 10-15cm longer than the tallest person sleeping in it. Because the more room you have in bed, the better you’ll sleep! How will I get my bed into the bedroom?And we don’t mean dropping it off on your doorstep. Your bed will be carried into your room of choice and put together by us, if assembly is required.

And for ease of manoeuvrability, our double divans can be split in two. Bed frames come in a wide range of styles and materials, from sleek and contemporary metal to warm and inviting wood. They are generally a more decorative option than a divan and add plenty of character to your bedroom décor. Bed frames tend to be large, so - before purchasing - it’s best to check whether your choice of bed will fit the room once it’s been assembled. Comfort and support is key when getting a healthy night’s sleep, so choosing your ideal mattress is essential. Your mattress needs to be compatible with your choice of bed, whether that is a divan or bed frame. Get the dimensions of both your mattress and bed base to make sure they match. While quilt designers don't adhere to standard quilt sizes when designing bed quilt patterns (there's help for that further down on this page), bedding manufacturers tend to be a bit more consistent and do follow some general guidelines. Our chart below shows the standard mattress, bedding and quilt sizes generally used in the United States.




Measure first to find a quilt pattern that fits your bedperfectly. After deciding which quilt size best fits your bed, add approximately 6"-8" to both width and length measurements to determine the batting and backing sizes that you'll need to finish your own quilts. Quilts that are intended to be long arm quilted also need additional batting and backing. Check with your longarm quilter for her specific requirements. They are probably different than what you'd use if you quilted it on your home sewing machine. Remember that on a long arm machine, the layers are rolled together instead of pinned. Pre-cut, packaged battings come in standard sizes:This batting information is also included in the downloadable chart. While manufacturers use standard quilt sizes for production, we all know that the quilt size you NEED depends on the mattress, bed frame and the "look" you desire for the bed to be covered.
