When selecting a bed, one of the most important factors to consider is the size of the bed. You surely have heard the terms “king”, “queen”, “full”, and “twin” but, do you really know the difference between them and how big they are?Single/Twin bed – Single beds and twin beds are the same type of bed, designed for one person. The average dimensions for this size of mattress are seventy-five inches by thirty-nine inches.  Because these beds are narrow, they can easily fit into even the smallest bedrooms. Single beds are the most common choice for children’s rooms and guest rooms. In addition, the Twin XL is sometimes available. This style is 6 inches longer than the standard twin mattress to provide more length for a grown adult.Full bed – Full beds, also known as double beds, are designed to sleep two people. The average dimensions of such a bed are seventy-four inches long and fifty-four inches wide. This size is just fifteen inches wider than a twin bed, which means that the width of the sleeping space for each adult is just twenty-seven inches — much less than the space offered by a twin bed.

Queen bed – A queen-size bed is like a full bed only larger. The average measurement of a queen bed is sixty inches by eighty inches, making it is six inches wider and six inches longer than a full bed. Queen beds are the most popular choice for couples, as the extra length and width make a significant difference in getting a good night’s sleep.King bed – King-size beds are the widest of all the bed styles. The standard measurement for this size bed is seventy-six inches wide and eighty inches long. Obviously the space offered by a king size bed is plentiful. In fact, it provides the same amount of space as two twin beds side by side. If you choose a king bed, the box springs underneath the mattress are typically two twins. Very tall people who need extra length can purchase a California King, which is four inches narrower, but also four inches longer. Because king beds are so large, they require extra room and are ideal for spacious master bedrooms.Futon mattresses come in all shapes and sizes, and we can even craft custom sizes for special needs (boats, RVs etc.)
