However, when he met the owner Gwen Bryne, 48, in Surrey, the pair instantly hit it off, sharing a few jokes as Mark struggled to get the disassembled beds into his 4x4. Mark Christie, from Dover, drove 75 miles to buy Gwen Bryne's bunk beds, advertised on GumtreeAnd when Mark returned home, he realised he had picked up the wrong parts to put the bunk beds together, and had to drive back to HR consultant Gwen's house to collect the remaining parts.The lovebirds agreed to meet up for lunch a few days later, and realised the had met The One. They have recently bought their first property together in Kent, where they live with Mark's daughter Jasmine, eight, and Gwen's children Madeline, 11, and Leo, nine.Financial adviser Mark said: 'I've heard about people meeting on dating websites but I've never heard of couples meeting over a Gumtree bed bunk sale. Little did he know that journey would bring him to his wife-to-be, 48-year-old Gwen from Banstead in Surrey Financial adviser Mark realised he had forgotten a key component of the beds and drove back to Surrey, where he asked Gwen to lunch.
Now couple have bought a house in Kent, where they live with their children'My daughter Jasmine had been asking for bunk beds for years so she could have friends to stay over, so when I saw some for sale in Surrey I decided to go and pick them up.'Gwen and I hit it off straightaway. She had a good laugh at me trying to get the bunk beds into the back of my car, and when I had to drive back to get the rest of the parts I joked that she owed me a bottle of wine for my troubles.'But we decided to meet up for lunch a few days later instead. I think that's when we both knew it was absolutely the one.'The funny thing is, I decided to treat my daughter to a new bunk bed because my ex-partner hated them. They're a pain to change the bedding on. Mark travelled to see Gwen every fortnight and the couple spent Christmas together with their children Mark took Gwen to the restaurant they visited on their first date in March, above. After the meal Mark proposed'Gwen was selling them for the same reason and now she's still stuck with them a year on.'The romance blossomed over the following months, as Mark travelled to Surrey every other weekend to see Gwen, and the couple spent last Christmas together with their children.
Mark then surprised his beloved with a romantic proposal in March.Gwen said: 'Mark took me to the restaurant we went to for our first date and after we finished the meal, the manager asked if we'd like to go onto the terrace outside.'I had absolutely no idea. Our table was decorated with love heart decorations, but even when they offered us champagne, I didn't click what was happening. Gwen's had yet to find a buyer for her bunk beds which eight-year-old Jasmine uses in her bedroom'Then the manager appeared holding a gold box with a ring dangling off it and Mark was on one knee. I was silent for what felt like ages, but in the end I managed to say yes.'The couple sold their houses and moved into their new family home together overlooking the sea last month.Gwen said: 'The kids love it down here. There's so much space and activities like water sports that they wouldn't be able to do in Surrey.'We've got a great little family set-up. It's just so lovely. I never could have imagined I'd meet my future husband on Gumtree.'

When we asked if we could view the room before booking it she was not pleased & told us the rooms were of a high standard.
We did eventually see the room & stayed 1 night. It is good to have the seperate dining/kitchen area. Bed was really comfortable and I had a great nights sleep. The toilet/shower was a little on the small side but other than that no complaints. This stay our room had been renovated to a very good standard. Bright, modern, comfortable and very clean. We took advantage of the meal service.

Loved having the separate kitchen area with table and chairs. The front garden area nicely mown and was pleasant to sit in. The only downside was the restaurant was not operating. We asked for two queen rooms plus single beds for 12 year old daughters (two couples each with one child). Pleasantly surprised that the queen bed was in one room and the single in the other area, so a little bit of space and privacy.

Very comfortable but the trains only 100m from the rooms and the tradesman that stay are very noisy and the gravel carpark combined with the thin walls make it hard to sleep. Yes the walls are a bit thin but everyone was very quiet pretty early.
